Entry Level Field Engineer Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an entry level field engineer job?
Focus on demonstrating hands-on technical ability, even without a long work history. Employers hiring at this level look for relevant coursework, internship experience, lab projects, or certifications in areas like networking, instrumentation, or systems installation. Tailoring your resume to show field-ready skills, a willingness to travel to job sites, and comfort working independently gives entry level candidates a clear edge.
Which companies hire entry level field engineers?
Companies hiring entry level field engineers right now include Sunrun, Cummins, and Molina Healthcare, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. The mix typically covers utilities, infrastructure contractors, technology service providers, and industrial equipment companies that build junior talent into their technical workforce from the ground up.
Are there remote entry level field engineer jobs?
Yes, though fully remote roles are less common given the on-site nature of the work. About 14% of entry level field engineer openings are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, with hybrid arrangements more typical for roles that combine office-based planning with periodic site visits rather than continuous fieldwork.
Are these new grad field engineer jobs?
Yes, many of the openings listed here are new grad friendly, including roles explicitly welcoming recent graduates and junior candidates. A new grad posting typically states zero to two years of experience required and accepts internships, co-op programs, or a strong academic portfolio in place of full-time work history. Look for language like "entry level," "new grad," or "training provided" in the job description.
Which industries hire the most entry level field engineers?
Entry Level field engineer roles concentrate in Manufacturing, Healthcare & Medical Services, and Construction & Real Estate, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026.
