Civil Project Manager Jobs in Phoenix: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a civil project manager job in Phoenix?
Focus your search on Phoenix's most active hiring sectors: transportation and roadway infrastructure, water and wastewater utilities, and residential and commercial land development. City of Phoenix departments, Maricopa County, the Arizona Department of Transportation, and regional engineering consultancies concentrated in Tempe and Scottsdale post regularly. Candidates with ADOT project experience, familiarity with Phoenix municipal permitting, or a PMP credential move to the front of most shortlists.
Which companies hire civil project managers in Phoenix?
Phoenix civil project manager roles are posted by Willmeng Construction, HDR, and AECOM and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. The Phoenix market is a mix of large national engineering and construction firms with regional offices, local infrastructure consultancies, and public-sector employers such as the City of Phoenix and Maricopa County.
Are there remote civil project manager jobs in Phoenix?
Yes, but sparingly. Civil project management is heavily site-dependent, so fully remote arrangements are uncommon for roles involving active construction oversight or field coordination. About 29% of civil project manager openings tied to Phoenix are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, and when flexibility does exist, it tends to apply to preconstruction planning, document control, or client reporting rather than hands-on site management.
How can I get a civil project manager job in Phoenix with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Phoenix is through a project engineer or assistant project manager role at one of the regional engineering consultancies or municipal contractors active in the Valley. Maricopa County and City of Phoenix infrastructure programs often hire junior project coordinators who build hands-on experience directly. An EIT credential, AutoCAD Civil 3D proficiency, and any exposure to ADOT or Phoenix Water Services project types will strengthen an early-career application considerably.
Which industries hire the most civil project managers in Phoenix?
Phoenix civil project manager roles concentrate in Consulting & Professional Services, Construction & Real Estate, and Manufacturing, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Phoenix's sustained population growth, ongoing freeway and light rail expansion, and large-scale water infrastructure investment keep these sectors among the most active employers for civil project management talent in the region.
