Clinical Data Manager Jobs in Mississippi: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a clinical data manager in Mississippi?
Most clinical data managers in Mississippi enter the field with a bachelor's degree in a life sciences, health informatics, or nursing-adjacent discipline, then gain experience as a clinical research coordinator or data entry specialist at a hospital or contract research organization. Mississippi does not require a state-issued license for this role, but the Certified Clinical Data Manager credential from the Society for Clinical Data Management is widely recognized by Mississippi employers and strengthens your candidacy at institutions like UMMC and Baptist Health.
Which companies hire clinical data managers in Mississippi?
Companies currently hiring clinical data managers in Mississippi include Amazon, Turner & Townsend Pty Limited, and HII, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Mississippi's academic medical centers and regional hospital systems are consistently among the most active sources of openings in the state.
Which Mississippi cities have the most clinical data manager jobs?
Jackson, Canton, and Stennis Space Center account for the largest concentration of clinical data manager openings in Mississippi. Jackson leads because it is home to the University of Mississippi Medical Center and a cluster of affiliated research facilities, while Hattiesburg and Tupelo draw openings from regional health systems and outpatient research sites that support multi-center trials headquartered in those metros.
Are there remote clinical data manager jobs in Mississippi?
Yes, and more than most healthcare roles, because clinical data management is primarily desk-based work involving database systems, documentation review, and regulatory filing rather than direct patient contact. About 27% of clinical data manager openings tied to Mississippi are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting how broadly contract research organizations and sponsors have adopted distributed team models. Database lock oversight and sponsor-facing reporting tend to be the tasks most consistently performed fully remote.
How can I get hired as a clinical data manager in Mississippi with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a clinical research coordinator role at a Mississippi hospital or university research department, which builds the data handling and protocol familiarity employers expect before promoting into data management. The University of Mississippi Medical Center and its affiliated clinics regularly bring on research assistants and coordinators who learn EDC platforms on the job. Earning the CCDM certification or completing a health informatics certificate at a Mississippi community college or university can substitute for some experience when applying to contract research organizations operating in the state.
Where can I find and apply to clinical data manager jobs in Mississippi?
