Cloud Consultant Jobs in Illinois: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a cloud consultant in Illinois?
Becoming a cloud consultant in Illinois typically starts with a bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or engineering, followed by earning a vendor-specific certification from AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud. Illinois does not require a state-issued license for cloud consulting work. Most Chicago-area consulting firms and technology employers expect candidates to hold at least one active cloud certification before hiring, and many offer internal training programs to develop additional specializations.
Which companies hire cloud consultants in Illinois?
Employers hiring cloud consultants in Illinois right now include Huron Consulting, EY, and Google, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Illinois's deep bench of global consulting firms headquartered or heavily staffed in Chicago, combined with large financial services and healthcare technology companies, keeps demand for cloud consultants consistently active across the state.

Chicago drives the largest share given its concentration of enterprise consulting firms, major financial institutions, and healthcare technology companies, while Schaumburg and Naperville attract substantial hiring from corporate headquarters and regional technology centers located along the Interstate 90 and Interstate 88 corridors west of the city.

How can I get hired as a cloud consultant in Illinois with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is earning an AWS Cloud Practitioner, Microsoft Azure Fundamentals, or Google Cloud Digital Leader certification and applying to associate consultant or cloud support roles at large Illinois consulting firms such as Accenture or Deloitte, which run structured analyst programs for recent graduates.
