INTRODUCTION
We are Toshiba. We have an unwavering drive to make and do things that lead to a better world.
Founded in 1965, Toshiba America, Inc. (TAI) is a subsidiary of the globally renowned Toshiba Corporation based in Tokyo. As the holding company for three Toshiba operating companies, TAI offers a wide array of products and solutions across the commercial, energy, and industrial sectors. Together with our subsidiaries, we form the Toshiba Americas Group, which is committed to technological innovation and excellence.
Our Commitment to the Future
At Toshiba America, we are guided by the principle “Committed to People, Committed to the Future.” This core philosophy shapes our strategies and actions as we strive to build a better, more sustainable world. In an era of climate change, resource depletion, and social inequality, we aim to ensure safety, security, and environmental stability for all.
JOB SUMMARY
We are looking for a versatile, hands-on Cloud & AI Solutions Engineer to help us design and build the next generation of digital tools for our industrial and enterprise operations. This is a role for a "practical visionary” someone who stays curious about emerging tech (like GenAI and automation) but has the technical grit to architect and implement those solutions in a real-world environment.
You will be the bridge between complex business needs and scalable technology, acting as both a strategic advisor and a hands-on expert to ensure our cloud and AI initiatives deliver actual value.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Solution Architecture: Translate business challenges into technical designs. You’ll create blueprints for how we use cloud services and AI to improve workflows and data insights.
- Hands-on Implementation: You won’t just hand over a slide deck. You will build prototypes, configure cloud environments, and develop the "first mile" of our AI and automation solutions.
- AI Adoption & Learning: Stay at the forefront of AI/ML and Generative AI. Identify where these tools can realistically improve our business processes and lead the effort to adopt them.
- Cloud Operations: Help us optimize our use of Azure, AWS, or GCP. This includes modernizing legacy setups, improving security, and automating repetitive IT tasks.
- Strategic Change: Act as a technical mentor and advocate for modern technology. You’ll help teams move away from "the way we’ve always done it" and toward more efficient, cloud-native ways of working.
CORE COMPETENCIES
- The "Architect" Mindset: Ability to see the big picture and understand how different systems (Identity, Data, Security, and Apps) fit together.
- Cloud Proficiency: Solid experience with at least one major cloud provider (Azure, AWS, or GCP) and a strong understanding of M365 ecosystems.
- AI Curiosity: You don’t need to be a data scientist, but you should understand how to leverage LLMs, APIs, and automation tools to solve problems.
- Practical Builder: Proficiency in modern "building" tools—whether that’s scripting (Python/PowerShell), low-code automation, or Infrastructure as Code (Terraform).
- Adaptability: A strong appetite for learning. You are comfortable moving between a factory-floor data problem and a corporate-office automation project.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 8+ years of experience in technical roles such as Systems Engineering, Cloud Architecture, or Solutions Engineering.
- Proven track record of taking a project from a "rough idea" to a "working solution."
- Excellent communication skills—the ability to explain a complex cloud migration or AI workflow to a non-technical stakeholder.
- Experience in industrial, manufacturing, or energy sectors is a plus, but a "can-do" attitude and technical aptitude are more important.

Cloud Solutions Engineer Jobs in Houston: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a cloud solutions engineer job in Houston?
Focus your search on Houston's Energy Corridor, Downtown, and Greenway Plaza, where energy companies, large healthcare systems, and aerospace firms concentrate their IT hiring. Hands-on experience with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud is table stakes here, but candidates who understand the operational demands of energy or healthcare infrastructure stand out. Networking through Houston Technology Center events and local AWS user groups also builds direct connections to hiring teams.
Which companies hire cloud solutions engineers in Houston?
Houston cloud solutions engineer roles are posted by Deloitte, Bain & Company, and Chevron and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Houston's hiring base skews toward large energy operators, major health systems, and defense contractors, many of which maintain significant internal cloud infrastructure teams rather than relying solely on consulting firms.
Are there remote cloud solutions engineer jobs in Houston?
Yes, though roles requiring hands-on data center work or client site support remain predominantly on-site. About 31% of cloud solutions engineer openings tied to Houston are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting the desk-heavy nature of architecture, migration planning, and DevOps work. Solution design and cloud governance roles at Houston's larger energy and healthcare employers tend to offer the most hybrid flexibility.
How can I get a cloud solutions engineer job in Houston with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Houston is landing a junior cloud administrator or infrastructure support role at one of the city's managed service providers or mid-size technology consultancies, which often hire for trainable candidates over polished resumes. Earning an AWS Solutions Architect Associate or Azure Administrator certification before applying makes a measurable difference. From there, internal moves into solutions engineering are common at Houston firms that prefer to promote from within.
Which industries hire the most cloud solutions engineers in Houston?
Houston cloud solutions engineer roles concentrate in Technology & Software, Consulting & Professional Services, and Accounting & Auditing, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Houston's position as the U.S. energy capital, combined with its large medical center complex and growing aerospace presence, means cloud talent is in consistent demand across all three sectors rather than being tied to a single industry cycle.
