Cloud Solutions Engineer Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a cloud solutions engineer in Texas?
The most direct path is a bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or engineering, followed by hands-on cloud platform experience and a vendor certification such as AWS Solutions Architect or Microsoft Azure Solutions Expert. Texas does not require a state-issued license for this role. Large Texas employers in energy and finance typically expect at least one major cloud certification alongside demonstrated experience with enterprise-scale deployments before extending an offer at the engineer level.
How much do cloud solutions engineers make in Texas?
Cloud solutions engineers in Texas earn a median of about $132,150 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $82,600 for the lowest 10% to over $183,680 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire cloud solutions engineers in Texas?
Employers hiring cloud solutions engineers in Texas right now include Google, Impact Networking, and Apple, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Texas's concentration of energy giants, regional banks, and healthcare systems means cloud solutions engineers here often work on large-scale digital transformation and hybrid infrastructure projects rather than consumer-facing products.
Which Texas cities have the most cloud solutions engineer jobs?
Austin, Houston, and Dallas account for the largest share of cloud solutions engineer openings in Texas. Austin's dense technology sector and corporate relocations drive volume there, while Dallas benefits from major telecommunications and financial services headquarters, and Houston's energy industry generates steady demand for cloud engineers supporting complex industrial and data-intensive operations.
Are there remote cloud solutions engineer jobs in Texas?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 20% of cloud solutions engineer openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting the fundamentally platform-based and collaborative nature of the work. Architecture design, cloud governance, and cost-optimization roles tend to be the most fully remote, while positions requiring close coordination with on-premise infrastructure or regulated Texas industries often require some on-site presence.
How can I get hired as a cloud solutions engineer in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving from an adjacent role such as systems administrator, network technician, or IT support analyst while earning an entry-level cloud certification like AWS Cloud Practitioner or Microsoft Azure Fundamentals. Texas employers in healthcare IT and financial services regularly hire associate cloud engineers or cloud support specialists who demonstrate certification and lab or project portfolio work. Large technology-focused employers in Austin and Dallas also recruit through university partnership programs at UT Austin and Texas A&M for candidates who have completed cloud capstone projects.
Where can I find and apply to cloud solutions engineer jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to cloud solutions engineer jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current Texas openings across Austin, Dallas, Houston, and other markets in the state. Find the roles that fit your experience and specialization and apply directly to each one.
