Talent Development Manager Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a talent development manager in Texas?
The typical Texas path starts with a bachelor's degree in human resources, organizational development, or a related field, followed by several years in a training coordinator or HR generalist role. Texas has no state-issued license for this position, but earning the ATD Certified Professional in Talent Development credential or the SHRM Certified Professional designation significantly strengthens candidacy. Large Texas employers in energy and healthcare often promote internally from instructional designer or HR business partner roles.
How much do talent development managers make in Texas?
Talent development managers in Texas earn a median of about $124,280 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $77,620 for the lowest 10% to over $202,490 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire talent development managers in Texas?
Employers hiring talent development managers in Texas right now include Jobot, McDonald's, and Aramark, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's concentration of Fortune 500 headquarters, large hospital systems, and major energy companies creates consistent demand for professionals who can run enterprise-wide learning programs.
Which Texas cities have the most talent development manager jobs?
Houston, Austin, and Dallas account for the most talent development manager openings in Texas. Houston's energy and healthcare sectors drive volume there, while Dallas draws demand from its dense cluster of corporate headquarters and financial services firms, and Austin's fast-growing technology industry generates openings at both scaling startups and established enterprise employers.
Are there remote talent development manager jobs in Texas?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 4% of talent development manager openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting the role's heavy reliance on digital content creation, virtual facilitation, and LMS administration. The parts of the role most suited to remote work are curriculum design, e-learning development, and program coordination, while facilitation of in-person leadership cohorts typically requires on-site presence.
How can I get hired as a talent development manager in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving into a training coordinator or learning and development specialist role first. Large Texas employers such as HEB, Texas Health Resources, and major Houston energy companies run rotational HR or organizational development programs that accept recent graduates. Starting as an instructional designer, HR coordinator, or corporate trainer gives direct credit toward a manager-level role. Completing the ATD Certificate in Learning and Performance or building an e-learning portfolio using tools like Articulate 360 gives early-career candidates a concrete edge.
Where can I find and apply to talent development manager jobs in Texas?
