Commercial Property Casualty Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a commercial property casualty in Texas?
The required credential is a Property and Casualty license issued by the Texas Department of Insurance. You apply through the TDI licensing portal, complete the required pre-licensing education hours, and pass the state exam administered by Pearson VUE. Most carriers expect at least a bachelor's degree in business, finance, or risk management. Designations such as CIC or CPCU strengthen your candidacy for underwriting and brokerage roles significantly.
Which companies hire commercial property casualtys in Texas?
Employers hiring commercial property casualtys in Texas right now include Insperity, 2020 Companies, and On The Move, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Texas's concentration of energy, construction, and logistics companies means carriers and brokerages here maintain some of the largest commercial lines teams in the country.
Which Texas cities have the most commercial property casualty jobs?
Houston, Katy, and Tyler hold the most commercial property casualty openings in Texas. Houston dominates because of its energy and petrochemical industry, which generates complex, high-premium commercial accounts, while Dallas anchors a broad financial and corporate services market and San Antonio supports a growing mid-market commercial base tied to military, healthcare, and distribution employers.
Are there remote commercial property casualty jobs in Texas?
Yes, and more than most insurance specialties. About 50% of commercial property casualty openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting how much of the work involves account analysis, coverage review, and client communication rather than on-site inspection. Underwriting, account management, and wholesale brokerage roles are the positions most likely to offer remote or hybrid arrangements.
How can I get hired as a commercial property casualty in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry point is a commercial lines service or customer service representative role at a regional Texas brokerage or a carrier such as Zurich or Travelers, which run structured associate underwriter programs for candidates without direct experience. Completing your Texas P&C license before you apply removes the primary barrier most employers list. Candidates moving from personal lines, claims, or risk management analyst roles have a natural lateral path into commercial accounts.
Where can I find and apply to commercial property casualty jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to commercial property casualty jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current Texas openings across carriers, brokerages, and managing general agents. Search the listings to find roles that match your license level and specialty, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
