Talent Acquisition Director Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a talent acquisition director in Texas?
Becoming a talent acquisition director in Texas typically starts with a bachelor's degree in human resources, business, or a related field, followed by progressive recruiting experience. Texas does not require a state-issued license for this role, but credentials like the SHRM-SCP or SPHR through the HR Certification Institute are widely recognized by Texas employers and often preferred. Most directors move up through senior recruiter or HR manager roles at Texas-based companies before stepping into a director title.
How much do talent acquisition directors make in Texas?
Talent acquisition directors in Texas earn a median of about $136,500 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $83,200 for the lowest 10% to over $226,050 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire talent acquisition directors in Texas?
Employers hiring talent acquisition directors in Texas right now include Southern Methodist University, EPIROC, and HDR, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's concentration of energy, technology, and healthcare headquarters means large corporate recruiting organizations are common, and many of those companies backfill or expand director roles on a recurring basis.
Which Texas cities have the most talent acquisition director jobs?
Austin, San Antonio, and Dallas have the most talent acquisition director openings in Texas. Dallas-Fort Worth draws volume from its dense corporate headquarters corridor, Houston from its energy and medical center employers, and Austin from its rapid technology sector growth, while San Antonio and the suburban rings of each major metro generate additional openings tied to healthcare systems and defense contractors.
Are there remote talent acquisition director jobs in Texas?
Yes, and more than most fields, since talent acquisition work is largely desk-based and collaboration happens through video, ATS platforms, and email. About 7% of talent acquisition director openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting how naturally the role adapts to distributed work. Strategic leadership duties and executive stakeholder relationships are the parts most commonly performed in person.
How can I get hired as a talent acquisition director in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving up from a senior recruiter or HR business partner role at a large Texas employer, then targeting a director title once you have team leadership experience on your record. Companies like Texas Health Resources, AT&T, and major energy firms in Houston run structured HR rotational or leadership development programs worth applying to early. Earning a SHRM-CP or PHR credential before you apply signals readiness and is a concrete edge in a competitive Texas market.
