INTRODUCTION
Affirm is reinventing credit to make it more honest and friendly, giving consumers the flexibility to buy now and pay later without any hidden fees or compounding interest. Our mission to deliver honest financial products that improve lives extends globally. To support this mission, we are building out the backbone of our fintech systems to ensure they are scalable, compliant, and capable of supporting rapid product innovation. We’re looking for a strong product leader to drive this vision forward!
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
We’re hiring a Senior Product Manager to own the product roadmap for subledger and reporting infrastructure, the Accounting ↔ Engineering interface, and reconciliation and controls that enable month-end close and auditability. This role owns the end-to-end journey of financial data from engineering systems to the general ledger/ERP and partners closely with Accounting, data, and platform teams.
What you’ll do:
- Own the financial reporting product roadmap: subledgers, standardized accounting-event interface, journal-entry flows, GL/ERP integrations, and reconciliation tooling.
- Work with Engineering to define subledger patterns and the Accounting ↔ Engineering interface: accounting-event schemas, API contracts, domain boundaries, and migration strategies for operational systems to adopt the standard.
- Translate accounting policy and audit requirements into product specs, posting logic, SOX controls, and implementable engineering requirements.
- Lead matching/reconciliation strategy and automation: run vendor evaluations, define recon rules and ownership, and deliver reconciliation automation for high-volume, critical accounts.
- Own data lineage, quality metrics, SLAs, monitoring, and remediation flows for critical reports and journal feeds.
- Run product discovery, prioritization, and cross-functional programs: scope pilots, set success metrics, manage tradeoffs, and deliver production systems with Engineering, Accounting, and Finance.
- Drive governance and change management: coordinate Accounting, Finance, Product and Engineering; own go-to-production signoffs, runbooks, and stakeholder training.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
What we’re looking for:
- 4+ years product management experience owning financial platforms or data products — responsible for roadmap, APIs, data models, and cross-functional delivery.
- Practical accounting experience required: hands-on accounting experience with direct ownership of month-end close, reconciliations, and external audits. CPA preferred. Practical domain expertise is more important than the credential alone.
- Proven track record of building and working knowledge of financial systems, subledger → GL flows, journal-entry design, reconciliations, SOX controls, and external audit processes.
- Strong technical fluency — data models, ETL/DBT, SQL, and API design — and the ability to partner tightly with engineering and data teams on lineage and transformations.
- Exceptional communicator and cross-functional influencer: translates accounting requirements into technical specs, drives consensus across Finance & Engineering, and presents tradeoffs to senior leaders.
- Willingness to work East Coast hours.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s in Accounting, Finance, Computer Science, or other related fields; or equivalent practical experience.

Align Your Credentials to GAAP Standards
Affirm operates under U.S. GAAP reporting requirements, so highlight your experience with GAAP-compliant financial statements on your resume. CPA licensure or active CPA candidacy signals readiness for a regulated financial services environment.
Prepare for Technical Finance Interview Rounds
Affirm's Accountant interviews typically include technical questions on month-end close, revenue recognition, and internal controls. Practice reconciling complex transactions and explaining audit-ready documentation, as fintech lenders face heightened regulatory scrutiny.
Confirm Sponsorship Willingness Before Final Interviews
During the offer stage, ask directly whether the specific Accountant role is approved for visa sponsorship. Finance headcount decisions at fintech firms sometimes vary by team, so get written confirmation rather than relying on general company policy statements.
Use Migrate Mate to Find Verified Openings

Find Accountant at Affirm JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Affirm sponsor H-1B visas for Accountants?
Yes, Affirm sponsors H-1B visas for Accountant roles. As a fintech company with structured finance and accounting functions, Affirm has an established track record of supporting H-1B petitions for qualified candidates. If you're currently on OPT, you'll want to apply with enough lead time to align your start date with the H-1B cap filing window, which opens in March each year for an October 1 start date.
How do I apply for Accountant jobs at Affirm?
Applications go through Affirm's careers portal, where Accountant roles are listed by team and location. Before applying, confirm the role explicitly supports visa sponsorship, since not every open position is approved for all visa types. Migrate Mate lists Affirm's Accountant openings filtered by sponsorship eligibility, which makes it easier to identify the right roles before submitting your application.
Which visa types does Affirm commonly use for Accountant roles?
Affirm sponsors H-1B, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, TN, and EB-2 or EB-3 Green Card pathways for Accountant positions. F-1 CPT is relevant for students completing an internship, while TN status applies to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying accounting roles. H-1B is the most common long-term path for full-time hires who need cap-subject sponsorship.
What qualifications does Affirm expect for sponsored Accountant roles?
Affirm typically looks for a bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, often with CPA licensure or active candidacy preferred for senior roles. Experience with month-end close, financial reporting under U.S. GAAP, and internal controls is expected. Familiarity with fintech or financial services environments, and experience using ERP systems, strengthens your application considerably.
How do I time my application around the H-1B process at Affirm?
USCIS opens H-1B cap registration each March for an October 1 start date, so you'll need an offer confirmed by late February at the latest. If you're on OPT with STEM extension, you have up to three years of work authorization, which gives more flexibility. Affirm's finance teams often hire on a rolling basis, so targeting openings in the fourth quarter of the prior year gives you the best runway.
