INTRODUCTION
Affirm is reinventing credit to make it more honest and friendly, giving consumers the flexibility to buy now and pay later without any hidden fees or compounding interest. Our mission to deliver honest financial products that improve lives extends globally. To support this mission, we are building out the backbone of our fintech systems to ensure they are scalable, compliant, and capable of supporting rapid product innovation. We’re looking for a strong product leader to drive this vision forward!
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
We’re hiring a Senior Product Manager to own the product roadmap for subledger and reporting infrastructure, the Accounting ↔ Engineering interface, and reconciliation and controls that enable month-end close and auditability. This role owns the end-to-end journey of financial data from engineering systems to the general ledger/ERP and partners closely with Accounting, data, and platform teams.
What you’ll do:
- Own the financial reporting product roadmap: subledgers, standardized accounting-event interface, journal-entry flows, GL/ERP integrations, and reconciliation tooling.
- Work with Engineering to define subledger patterns and the Accounting ↔ Engineering interface: accounting-event schemas, API contracts, domain boundaries, and migration strategies for operational systems to adopt the standard.
- Translate accounting policy and audit requirements into product specs, posting logic, SOX controls, and implementable engineering requirements.
- Lead matching/reconciliation strategy and automation: run vendor evaluations, define recon rules and ownership, and deliver reconciliation automation for high-volume, critical accounts.
- Own data lineage, quality metrics, SLAs, monitoring, and remediation flows for critical reports and journal feeds.
- Run product discovery, prioritization, and cross-functional programs: scope pilots, set success metrics, manage tradeoffs, and deliver production systems with Engineering, Accounting, and Finance.
- Drive governance and change management: coordinate Accounting, Finance, Product and Engineering; own go-to-production signoffs, runbooks, and stakeholder training.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
What we’re looking for:
- 4+ years product management experience owning financial platforms or data products — responsible for roadmap, APIs, data models, and cross-functional delivery.
- Practical accounting experience required: hands-on accounting experience with direct ownership of month-end close, reconciliations, and external audits. CPA preferred. Practical domain expertise is more important than the credential alone.
- Proven track record of building and working knowledge of financial systems, subledger → GL flows, journal-entry design, reconciliations, SOX controls, and external audit processes.
- Strong technical fluency — data models, ETL/DBT, SQL, and API design — and the ability to partner tightly with engineering and data teams on lineage and transformations.
- Exceptional communicator and cross-functional influencer: translates accounting requirements into technical specs, drives consensus across Finance & Engineering, and presents tradeoffs to senior leaders.
- Willingness to work East Coast hours.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s in Accounting, Finance, Computer Science, or other related fields; or equivalent practical experience.

Frame your credentials around U.S. GAAP
Affirm's accounting team operates under U.S. GAAP, not IFRS. Before applying, make sure your resume explicitly signals your GAAP experience or coursework, especially for areas like ASC 606 revenue recognition relevant to fintech lending.
Search actively on Migrate Mate to track openings
Affirm posts Accounting Analyst roles across multiple teams and product lines. Use Migrate Mate to filter specifically for Affirm roles that support visa sponsorship, so you're applying to positions already confirmed for international candidates.
Prepare documentation for specialty occupation support
USCIS requires H-1B petitions to demonstrate the role qualifies as a specialty occupation. Gather your official transcripts and degree certificates early, since Affirm's legal team will need them to build the petition supporting your accounting function.
Ask about LCA timing during the offer stage
Affirm must file a certified Labor Condition Application with the DOL before your H-1B petition can be submitted to USCIS. Ask your recruiter when LCA filing typically begins after offer acceptance so you can plan your start date realistically.
Distinguish between H-1B cap and cap-exempt pathways
Affirm is a cap-subject employer, meaning H-1B filings compete in the annual lottery each April. If you've previously held H-1B status at another employer, a transfer to Affirm bypasses the lottery entirely and can proceed year-round.

Does Affirm sponsor H-1B visas for Accounting Analysts?
Yes, Affirm sponsors H-1B visas for Accounting Analyst roles. As a cap-subject employer, petitions are filed in April for an October 1 start. If you already hold H-1B status from a prior employer, Affirm can file a transfer petition at any point in the year, bypassing the lottery entirely.
Which visa types does Affirm commonly sponsor for Accounting Analyst positions?
Affirm sponsors H-1B, TN, and Green Card pathways including EB-2 and EB-3 for Accounting Analyst roles. F-1 OPT and CPT candidates are also supported, which is common for recent accounting graduates entering fintech. TN is a practical option for Canadian and Mexican nationals given its faster processing timeline compared to H-1B.
What qualifications does Affirm expect for Accounting Analyst roles?
Affirm typically looks for candidates with a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field, along with hands-on experience in month-end close, reconciliations, or financial reporting. Familiarity with U.S. GAAP is expected, and experience with revenue recognition under ASC 606 is particularly relevant given Affirm's lending business model.
How do I apply for Accounting Analyst jobs at Affirm?
You can browse and apply for Accounting Analyst positions at Affirm through Migrate Mate, which filters specifically for roles open to visa sponsorship. When applying, tailor your resume to highlight GAAP-based accounting experience and any fintech or financial services exposure. Affirm's recruiting process typically includes an initial screen, technical assessment, and panel interviews covering both technical accounting and cross-functional collaboration.
How do I plan my timeline when targeting an Accounting Analyst role at Affirm on an H-1B?
If you need a new H-1B, aim to have an offer in hand before January so Affirm's legal team can prepare the petition for the April 1 filing window. USCIS opens H-1B registration in March, with work authorization beginning October 1 at the earliest. F-1 OPT holders can bridge this gap by confirming their OPT expiration date against that timeline during the offer conversation.
