INTRODUCTION
Affirm is reinventing credit to make it more honest and friendly, giving consumers the flexibility to buy now and pay later without any hidden fees or compounding interest.
Our Financial Platform sits at the heart of every loan Affirm makes and every dollar we move. We're looking for a Director of Product Management to lead and scale the teams behind two of our most critical and complex domains: Loans Lifecycle and Money Movement. This is a role for a seasoned product leader who thrives in the intersection of financial systems, platform engineering, and organizational scale.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead and grow a high-performing PM team. Build, mentor, and manage a team of 6–10 product managers, including people managers. You'll set the bar for craft, create development paths, and cultivate a culture of ownership, rigor, and candor.
- Own the vision and strategy for Loans Lifecycle and Money Movement. Define the multi-year product strategy for Affirm's foundational loan systems and global money movement infrastructure — ensuring they are scalable, compliant, and capable of supporting rapid product innovation. Translate that vision into clear roadmaps and decisions that teams can execute against.
- Be the domain authority. Serve as the executive-level subject matter expert on loan lifecycle mechanics, payment rails, settlement flows, and institutional transfers — guiding product, engineering, and business partners on tradeoffs, best practices, and platform decisions.
- Drive cross-functional alignment at scale. Partner closely with Engineering, Accounting, Treasury, Capital Markets, Legal, Compliance, and Client Success teams. Navigate complexity, balance competing stakeholder needs, and build trust through clear communication and a strong delivery track record.
- Enable platform scalability and international expansion. Architect platform strategies that simplify domain boundaries, standardize loan behaviors across products and markets, and unlock faster time-to-market for new geographies and product lines.
- Measure and improve platform health. Define success metrics — including settlement success rates, reconciliation coverage, exception volumes, and time-to-resolution — and hold teams accountable to the reliability and accuracy standards these critical systems demand.
- Influence up and across the organization. Regularly present strategy, tradeoffs, and priorities to senior leadership. Shape organizational thinking on where to invest and what to deprioritize.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 10+ years of product management experience, with at least 3–5 years managing and developing PM teams including people managers
- Deep experience in loans or lending systems — you understand loan lifecycle mechanics, platform architecture for loan servicing, and the compliance and operational requirements that come with it
- Meaningful experience in money movement, payments infrastructure, or financial operations — you're fluent in payment rails, settlement flows, cross-border transfers, and the reliability and accuracy standards these systems demand
- Experience in fintech, financial services, or banking; familiarity with BNPL, platform products, or backend infrastructure is strongly preferred; capital markets background is a plus
- Demonstrated ability to set and execute long-term platform strategy in ambiguous, fast-moving environments
- Strong technical fluency — you're comfortable diving into data models and API discussions with engineers and holding informed opinions
- Proficiency with AI-assisted tools (e.g., Claude, Cursor) to accelerate your own work and raise the bar for your team
- Track record of building and scaling distributed, high-performing PM teams across multiple domains simultaneously
- Exceptional stakeholder management skills — you can align Legal, Finance, Engineering, and executive leadership around a common direction
- Outstanding written and verbal communication; you tell crisp, data-driven stories to diverse audiences
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent practical experience

Frame Your Experience Around Financial Products
Affirm's growth org is built around merchant acquisition and consumer credit adoption, not generic B2B sales. Tailor your resume and portfolio to show growth outcomes tied to financial products, lending partnerships, or payments ecosystems rather than broad industry leadership.
Target Affirm's Merchant Partnerships Pipeline
Director Strategic Growth roles at Affirm frequently focus on large retail and e-commerce verticals. Research Affirm's active merchant categories before applying, and position your background around the verticals where Affirm is expanding its point-of-sale financing footprint.
Clarify Your OPT or TN Status Early
If you're on F-1 OPT, confirm your STEM extension eligibility before your first recruiter call. TN holders should note that financial services strategy roles generally qualify under the Management Consultant category, but your employer will need to confirm the job duty alignment with DOL definitions.
Understand Affirm's H-1B Filing Cycle
Affirm sponsors H-1B petitions tied to the annual USCIS cap lottery, which opens in March for an October 1 start date. If your offer comes outside that window, ask the recruiting team explicitly whether cap-exempt filing or an alternative status bridge is available for your situation.
Use Migrate Mate to Surface Active Openings
Director Strategic Growth roles at Affirm are posted across multiple channels and close quickly. Use Migrate Mate to filter specifically for Affirm openings that include visa sponsorship, so you're applying to confirmed roles rather than positions with unclear immigration support.
Negotiate Timeline Before Accepting an Offer
If you need H-1B sponsorship, confirm with Affirm's legal or HR team whether premium processing is available, which reduces USCIS adjudication to 15 business days. Aligning on processing timelines before signing protects your start date and avoids gaps in authorized work status.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Affirm sponsor H-1B visas for Director Strategic Growths?
Yes, Affirm sponsors H-1B visas for Director Strategic Growth roles. The company has an established sponsorship process and works with immigration counsel to support petitions for senior hires. Because H-1B sponsorship is tied to the annual USCIS cap lottery with an October 1 start date, timing your offer and application cycle accordingly is critical for this pathway.
How do I apply for Director Strategic Growth jobs at Affirm?
Apply directly through Affirm's careers page or through Migrate Mate, which filters for Affirm roles that include confirmed visa sponsorship. For Director Strategic Growth positions, Affirm's recruiting process typically includes a recruiter screen, a case study or strategic exercise, and multiple rounds with growth and executive leadership. Flagging your visa needs early in the recruiter conversation avoids surprises later in the process.
Which visa types does Affirm commonly use for Director Strategic Growth roles?
Affirm supports H-1B, F-1 OPT and CPT, TN visa, and employment-based Green Card pathways including EB-2 and EB-3 for eligible candidates. For Director-level roles, H-1B is the most common nonimmigrant route. TN visa is available to Canadian and Mexican nationals where the role aligns with a qualifying USMCA occupation category, which many strategic growth and management roles satisfy.
What qualifications does Affirm expect for Director Strategic Growth positions?
Affirm's Director Strategic Growth roles typically require demonstrated success in merchant or partnership-driven revenue growth, ideally within fintech, payments, or consumer lending. A bachelor's degree in a relevant field is generally expected, with an MBA common at this level. Strategic leadership experience, cross-functional influence, and familiarity with credit or lending product dynamics strengthen a candidacy significantly for Affirm's growth organization.
How do I time my application if I need H-1B sponsorship for an Affirm role?
The H-1B cap lottery registration opens each March, with approved petitions taking effect October 1. If you receive an Affirm offer in the fall or winter, your employer can file during the next lottery cycle, but you'll need a valid status to work in the interim. Confirming your current visa status bridge options, including any OPT or grace period coverage, with Affirm's HR team before accepting is essential.
