INTRODUCTION
Affirm is reinventing credit to make it more honest and friendly, giving consumers the flexibility to buy now and pay later without any hidden fees or compounding interest. The Purchasing Integrations team is responsible for the JavaScript SDK and frontend infrastructure that power Affirm at checkout. We build the library that merchants embed directly into their storefronts - rendering payment messaging and buttons, initiating checkout flows, and orchestrating secure, real-time communication with Affirm’s web app. This code runs on high-traffic production sites, so performance, resiliency, and backward compatibility are critical. Milliseconds matter, and failure is immediately visible to merchants and consumers. This role is deeply frontend-focused. Engineers work on bundle optimization, script loading strategies, rendering performance, and Web Vitals, ensuring our SDK integrates cleanly into diverse merchant stacks without degrading UX. We design extensible UI components that support evolving checkout experiences while keeping integration simple and incremental for developers. Security enhancements and modern browser-based communication patterns are core to the work. The team operates at the intersection of platform and product: building reusable primitives, experimenting with new checkout surfaces, and translating complex requirements into intuitive APIs and polished UI. It’s an opportunity to work on high-scale frontend systems embedded across the web—where engineering rigor directly impacts conversion, growth, and user experience.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
With the support of your team’s tech lead and manager, you will break down larger projects into individual tasks, deliver them in multiple phases, and collaborate with others to ensure timely delivery of your work.
You will support your peers and stakeholders in the product development lifecycle by collaborating with product management, design & analytics by participating in ideation, articulating technical constraints, and partnering on decisions that properly consider risks and trade-offs.
You will support the operations and availability of your team’s artifacts by creating and monitoring metrics, escalating when needed, and supporting “keep the lights on” & on-call efforts.
You will contribute to a sense of community on your team by engaging in growth and development activities such as participation in the interview process.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
You have a total of 1.5+ years of experience as a software engineer.
You have experience shipping web apps using declarative UI frameworks like React or Vue.
You have experience working with Javascript/Typescript.
You have experience designing, developing and launching APIs at scale using languages like Python or Kotlin.
You have mastered taking a simple problem or business scenario into a solution that interacts with multiple software components, and executing on it by writing clear, easily understood, well tested and extensible code.
You are comfortable navigating a large code base, debugging others' code, and providing feedback to other engineers through code reviews.
Your experience demonstrates that you take ownership of your growth, proactively seeking feedback from your team, your manager, and your stakeholders.
You have strong verbal and written communication skills that support effective collaboration with our global engineering team.
* This position requires either equivalent practical experience or a Bachelor’s degree in a related field.

Frame your fintech UI experience clearly
Affirm's front-end work sits at the intersection of financial products and consumer UX. Highlight any experience building payment flows, checkout interfaces, or data-heavy dashboards in React. Generic portfolio projects won't resonate the way fintech-adjacent work does.
Target roles that align with H-1B specialty occupation criteria
Not every front-end posting at a fintech company meets USCIS specialty occupation standards the same way. Focus on roles requiring a specific computer science or engineering degree rather than listings where any technical background is acceptable.
Browse open Front End Software Engineer roles on Migrate Mate
Affirm posts Front End Software Engineer openings across multiple teams and seniority levels. Use Migrate Mate to filter Affirm's active visa-sponsoring roles so you're applying to positions that are actively open and sponsorship-eligible.
Raise sponsorship intent before the offer stage
Affirm's recruiting process moves quickly through technical interviews. Flag your visa status to the recruiter after your initial screen, not at offer. This lets the immigration team assess timing against the H-1B cap registration window well in advance.
Understand PERM timing if you want green card sponsorship
EB-2 and EB-3 sponsorship at Affirm requires DOL PERM labor certification, which typically takes 12 to 18 months before an I-140 petition can be filed. Ask your recruiter whether the role is budgeted for green card sponsorship during salary negotiations, not after you accept.

Find Front End Software Engineer at Affirm JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Affirm sponsor H-1B visas for Front End Software Engineers?
Yes, Affirm sponsors H-1B visas for Front End Software Engineers. The company files H-1B petitions for qualifying engineering roles, subject to the annual USCIS cap and lottery. If you're on F-1 OPT, Affirm can employ you before H-1B status takes effect, with cap-gap protection bridging the gap if your OPT expires before October 1.
How do I apply for Front End Software Engineer jobs at Affirm?
Applications go through Affirm's careers page, where roles are listed by team and location. Because Affirm posts openings across multiple product areas, the process can feel fragmented. Migrate Mate aggregates Affirm's sponsorship-eligible Front End Software Engineer roles in one place, so you can identify the right opening and apply directly without missing active listings.
Which visa types does Affirm commonly sponsor for Front End Software Engineers?
Affirm sponsors H-1B visas as the primary work authorization path for Front End Software Engineers. The company also supports F-1 OPT and CPT for students in active programs, TN status for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying engineering roles, and EB-2 or EB-3 Green Card sponsorship for longer-term employees going through the PERM process with DOL.
What qualifications does Affirm expect from Front End Software Engineer candidates?
Affirm typically looks for strong proficiency in React and TypeScript, experience with component architecture at scale, and familiarity with performance optimization in consumer-facing products. For H-1B specialty occupation purposes, a bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, software engineering, or a directly related field is standard. Fintech or payments experience is a differentiator but not always required for every level.
How do I time my H-1B sponsorship application if I'm starting at Affirm on OPT?
USCIS opens H-1B cap registration each March for an October 1 start. If you join Affirm on OPT before March, your employer can submit your registration in that cycle. If your OPT expires between April and September and you're selected in the lottery, cap-gap protection under your F-1 status keeps you authorized until H-1B status activates. Plan your start date with this window in mind.
