Frame your fintech leadership credentials early
Affirm's Technical Manager roles require demonstrated experience leading engineering teams on payment systems, credit underwriting, or fraud detection. Document projects where you owned technical roadmaps and cross-functional delivery before you apply, not after an offer arrives.
Target roles aligned with Affirm's core infrastructure
Affirm consistently hires Technical Managers for its lending platform, merchant integrations, and data engineering functions. Filtering your search to these product areas increases your odds of reaching hiring managers who are already familiar with sponsoring for this specific role type.
Verify your visa category fits the role level
Technical Manager positions at Affirm typically require a bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field, which supports H-1B specialty occupation classification. If you hold TN status, confirm your degree and job duties map cleanly to an approved TN occupation category before accepting an offer.
Clarify LCA prevailing wage expectations upfront
Affirm must file a Labor Condition Application with DOL before petitioning for your H-1B. Technical Manager salaries in the San Francisco Bay Area carry high prevailing wage requirements. Ask your recruiter whether the offered compensation meets the DOL wage level for your specific work location.
Build a portfolio showing engineering team impact
Affirm's Technical Manager interviews assess both system design depth and people leadership. Prepare concrete examples of how you improved engineering velocity, reduced incident rates, or scaled a team, since USCIS specialty occupation evidence often draws on this same material during H-1B adjudication.
Use Migrate Mate to find open Technical Manager roles
Affirm posts Technical Manager openings across multiple channels, and not all list sponsorship availability explicitly. Use Migrate Mate to filter Affirm's current openings by visa type so you only spend time on roles where sponsorship is confirmed.

Find Technical Manager at Affirm JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Affirm sponsor H-1B visas for Technical Managers?
Yes, Affirm sponsors H-1B visas for Technical Manager roles. The company has an active history of filing H-1B petitions for technical and engineering leadership positions. If you receive an offer, your employer will file the Labor Condition Application with DOL and then submit the H-1B petition to USCIS on your behalf before your start date.
Which visa types does Affirm commonly sponsor for Technical Manager roles?
Affirm sponsors H-1B visas most commonly for Technical Managers, along with Green Card pathways through EB-2 and EB-3 PERM labor certification for longer-term employees. F-1 OPT and CPT are supported for recent graduates entering the role, and TN visas are an option for Canadian and Mexican nationals whose degree and duties meet TN classification requirements.
How do I apply for Technical Manager jobs at Affirm?
Applications go through Affirm's careers portal, where you'll find Technical Manager openings organized by product area and location. Use Migrate Mate to browse Affirm's current Technical Manager listings filtered by visa sponsorship type so you can confirm eligibility before investing time in the full application process. Tailoring your resume to highlight fintech engineering leadership strengthens your application.
What qualifications does Affirm expect for Technical Manager candidates needing sponsorship?
Affirm typically looks for a bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, software engineering, or a related technical field, which also supports the H-1B specialty occupation requirement. Beyond credentials, the role demands hands-on experience managing software engineering teams, familiarity with distributed systems or payment infrastructure, and a record of shipping complex technical projects with cross-functional stakeholders.
How do I plan my timeline if I need Affirm to file an H-1B petition for this role?
If you're subject to the H-1B cap, USCIS opens registration in March each year for an October 1 start date. That means you need an offer and a completed registration before the March window closes. Cap-exempt applicants, such as those transferring an existing H-1B, can start sooner. Premium processing, currently adjudicated within a few business days, is available if your start date is urgent.
