Frame Your Fintech Integration Experience Precisely
Affirm's TAM roles center on API integrations and merchant onboarding in a regulated financial environment. Tailor your resume to highlight payment systems, lending platforms, or banking API experience so recruiters can map your background to their specialty occupation filing.
Confirm Sponsorship Eligibility Before Applying
Affirm sponsors several visa types for Technical Account Managers, but not every role or team has the same flexibility. Ask the recruiter directly which visa categories the specific TAM position supports before investing time in the interview process.
Use Migrate Mate to Target Open TAM Roles
Affirm consistently posts Technical Account Manager openings, but not all roles surface on general job boards with sponsorship details attached. Use Migrate Mate to filter Affirm TAM positions by visa type so you're only applying to roles that match your authorization.
Align Your OPT Start Date with Affirm's Hiring Cycles
Affirm typically ramps TAM hiring in Q1 and Q3. If you're on F-1 OPT, map your available start date to those windows. Starting within your OPT period matters because the H-1B cap-subject filing deadline is April 1, leaving little room if onboarding runs late.
Prepare a Clear Specialty Occupation Narrative Early
USCIS scrutinizes H-1B petitions for account management roles more closely than engineering roles. Work with Affirm's immigration counsel ahead of filing to document why your TAM position requires a specific bachelor's-level field, not just general business acumen.
Understand the LCA Wage Requirement for Your Location
Affirm files a Labor Condition Application with the DOL before your H-1B petition can proceed. The LCA locks in a prevailing wage tied to your work location, so remote, San Francisco, or New York placements carry different wage floors that affect your offer structure.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Affirm sponsor H-1B visas for Technical Account Managers?
Yes, Affirm sponsors H-1B visas for Technical Account Manager roles. The company works with immigration counsel to file cap-subject H-1B petitions for eligible candidates. Because TAM roles sit at the intersection of technical and client-facing work, Affirm's team typically documents the specialty occupation requirement carefully to satisfy USCIS standards.
How do I apply for Technical Account Manager jobs at Affirm?
You can apply directly through Affirm's careers page, or use Migrate Mate to browse current TAM openings filtered by visa sponsorship type. When applying, make sure your resume reflects hands-on experience with payment platforms, merchant integrations, or financial APIs, since those signals align with what Affirm's TAM hiring teams prioritize.
Which visa types does Affirm commonly use for Technical Account Manager roles?
Affirm sponsors H-1B visas as the primary long-term work authorization pathway for TAM roles. F-1 OPT and CPT are supported for early-career candidates, including STEM OPT extensions for those with qualifying degrees. TN visas are an option for Canadian and Mexican nationals, and EB-2 or EB-3 Green Card sponsorship is available for longer-tenured employees.
What qualifications does Affirm expect for Technical Account Manager candidates?
Affirm generally looks for candidates with a bachelor's degree in a technical or business-adjacent field, combined with experience in account management, API troubleshooting, or financial technology. Familiarity with buy-now-pay-later products, merchant onboarding workflows, or payment gateway integrations strengthens your profile significantly for this specific role.
How do I plan my visa timeline when targeting a TAM role at Affirm?
If you're pursuing an H-1B, Affirm must submit your petition during the April 1 filing window for an October 1 start date. That means your offer, Labor Condition Application through DOL, and petition prep all need to be completed by late March. If you're on OPT, confirm your expiration date leaves enough buffer to cover that filing cycle.
