Frame your portfolio around financial clarity
Affirm's design work centers on making credit decisions, payment schedules, and loan terms legible to everyday users. Before applying, rebuild your case studies to show how you've simplified complex financial or transactional flows, not just polished visual interfaces.
Verify your OPT timeline before applying
If you're on F-1 OPT, confirm your remaining authorized period against Affirm's typical hiring timeline, which often runs 8 to 12 weeks from application to start date. A gap between offer and start can push you into your 60-day grace period.
Target roles that align with H-1B specialty occupation criteria
H-1B eligibility requires your role to qualify as a specialty occupation under USCIS standards. UX Product Design positions that require a degree in human-computer interaction, product design, or a related field have a cleaner path than broadly scoped design generalist roles.
Clarify sponsorship scope during the recruiter screen
Affirm distinguishes between roles it will sponsor for H-1B transfers and roles requiring cap-subject H-1B petitions. Raise your visa situation in the first recruiter call so the hiring team can confirm which filing path applies before you reach final rounds.
Use Migrate Mate to surface open UX Product Design roles at Affirm
Affirm posts design roles across product lines with varying sponsorship scopes. Use Migrate Mate to filter specifically for Affirm's UX Product Design openings that include visa sponsorship, so you're not applying blind to roles that won't move forward for international candidates.
Prepare a degree equivalency statement early if your credential is from outside the U.S.
USCIS evaluates foreign degrees against U.S. equivalency standards during H-1B adjudication. If your design degree is from Australia, India, or another country, get a credential evaluation from a NACES-member organization before Affirm's immigration counsel requests it.

Find UX Product Design at Affirm JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Affirm sponsor H-1B visas for UX Product Designers?
Yes, Affirm sponsors H-1B visas for UX Product Design roles. The company supports both H-1B transfers for candidates already holding a valid H-1B with another employer and cap-subject petitions for candidates entering the lottery. Whether your specific role qualifies depends on how the position is scoped and whether USCIS classifies it as a specialty occupation.
How do I apply for UX Product Design jobs at Affirm?
You can apply through Affirm's careers page directly, or use Migrate Mate to browse and filter Affirm's open UX Product Design roles by visa sponsorship eligibility. Before applying, confirm that the role explicitly supports your visa type, since not every open position on Affirm's site includes sponsorship. Having your portfolio ready to share at the recruiter stage is standard for design roles.
Which visa types does Affirm commonly use for UX Product Design hires?
Affirm sponsors H-1B visas most commonly for UX Product Design roles. The company also works with F-1 OPT and CPT candidates during earlier hiring stages, and supports TN visas for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying design roles. For longer-term sponsorship, Affirm has pursued EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card sponsorship for retained design employees.
What qualifications does Affirm expect for UX Product Design roles?
Affirm's UX Product Design roles typically require a portfolio demonstrating end-to-end product thinking, from research and wireframing through to shipped product. Experience with complex or data-dense interfaces, including financial dashboards or transactional flows, is a consistent signal in their job descriptions. A bachelor's degree in product design, human-computer interaction, or a related discipline is standard for H-1B eligibility purposes under USCIS specialty occupation rules.
How do I think about timing when targeting Affirm for H-1B sponsorship?
If you need a cap-subject H-1B, USCIS registration opens in March for an October 1 start date. Affirm would need to submit your petition in April if selected in the lottery. That means aligning your job search and offer timeline to land an accepted offer before the March registration window. If you're already on H-1B with another employer, transfers can begin on your start date without waiting for the cap cycle.
