Get your PE licensure paperwork in order
Arcadis posts many roles requiring a Professional Engineer license or active pursuit of one. Before applying, confirm your state licensure status or document your FE exam passage and experience hours, since these directly affect which projects and seniority levels you'll be considered for.
Target Arcadis's infrastructure and water practices
Infrastructure, water, and environment divisions are among Arcadis's most active hiring areas for Professional Engineers. Framing your application around project delivery experience in those sectors, rather than general civil or structural work, aligns your profile with where sponsorship-backed openings actually concentrate.
Clarify your visa type before the offer stage
Arcadis sponsors multiple visa categories, so telling the recruiter your current status early, whether you're on F-1 OPT, TN, or H-1B, avoids late-stage surprises. OPT STEM extensions give you up to 24 additional months, which matters if your H-1B start date falls after your current authorization expires.
Understand how PERM timelines affect your offer
For EB-2 or EB-3 Green Card sponsorship, Arcadis would file a PERM labor certification with DOL before the immigrant visa petition. That process typically runs 12 to 18 months. Asking about green card support during negotiation, rather than after signing, sets accurate expectations for both sides.
Use Migrate Mate to filter open roles by visa type
Arcadis posts Professional Engineer openings across multiple U.S. offices with varying sponsorship eligibility. Use Migrate Mate to filter those listings by the visa category that matches your status so you're only pursuing positions where your authorization is already a fit.
Confirm the role qualifies as a specialty occupation
USCIS requires H-1B positions to meet specialty occupation standards, meaning the role must normally require a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific technical field. For Professional Engineer roles, your degree discipline needs to align directly with the engineering work described in the offer letter, not just the broader job title.

Find Professional Engineer at Arcadis JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Arcadis sponsor H-1B visas for Professional Engineers?
Yes, Arcadis sponsors H-1B visas for Professional Engineers. The company has an established process for filing H-1B petitions across its engineering practices, including infrastructure, water, and environment. If you're currently on OPT or another nonimmigrant status, confirm your authorization timeline with the recruiter early so the transition to H-1B cap filing or cap-exempt filing can be planned accordingly.
How do I apply for Professional Engineer jobs at Arcadis?
Applications go through Arcadis's careers portal, where you can filter by discipline, location, and job type. Before applying, tailor your resume to the specific engineering practice area listed, since Arcadis hires across distinct divisions. You can also browse open Professional Engineer roles filtered by visa sponsorship eligibility on Migrate Mate to identify positions that already match your work authorization status.
Which visa types does Arcadis commonly use for Professional Engineer roles?
Arcadis sponsors Professional Engineers under several visa categories, including H-1B, H-1B1 for Chilean and Singaporean nationals, TN for Canadian and Mexican engineers, F-1 OPT and CPT for recent graduates, J-1 for exchange visitors, and EB-2 or EB-3 immigrant visa categories for candidates pursuing a Green Card. The right pathway depends on your nationality, degree, and how long you need to remain authorized.
What qualifications does Arcadis typically expect from Professional Engineer candidates?
Most Professional Engineer roles at Arcadis require a bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant engineering discipline, such as civil, environmental, mechanical, or structural engineering. Active PE licensure or documented progress toward it, including FE exam passage and documented experience hours, is often expected. Project delivery experience in Arcadis's core markets, particularly water, infrastructure, and environment, strengthens your application significantly.
How long does the visa sponsorship process typically take for a new hire at Arcadis?
Timeline depends on visa type. H-1B cap filings follow the April lottery cycle with an October 1 start date, so a spring offer may mean a months-long wait. TN status for Canadians can be obtained at a port of entry on the start date. PERM-based Green Card sponsorship through DOL typically takes 12 to 18 months before the USCIS immigrant petition stage even begins. Aligning your offer timing with these windows avoids gaps in work authorization.
