Get Your PE License Transfer Process Started Early
If you hold a professional engineering license from outside the U.S., research your target state's comity licensure requirements now. Westwood operates in multiple states, and having an active U.S. PE license or a clear path to reciprocity strengthens your candidacy before you apply.
Align Your Resume to Westwood's Project Disciplines
Westwood's consulting work spans civil, environmental, transportation, and land development projects. Tailor your resume to reflect billable project experience in one of these disciplines, not just technical skills broadly, so hiring managers can immediately see client-facing fit.
Confirm Sponsorship Eligibility Before Your Final Interview Round
Once you reach the offer stage, ask HR directly whether your target role qualifies for H-1B sponsorship or if it falls under a cap-exempt pathway. Consulting firms sometimes differentiate sponsorship eligibility by seniority level or project type, so clarify this before negotiating compensation.
Understand How PERM Labor Certification Affects Your Timeline
If Westwood offers EB-2 or EB-3 green card sponsorship, DOL's PERM process requires the company to conduct a supervised recruitment period before filing. This can add six to twelve months before your I-140 petition is submitted, so factor that into your long-term planning.
Search Verified Sponsorship Roles Through Migrate Mate
Filter Professional Engineer openings at Westwood Professional Services by visa type on Migrate Mate so you're only looking at roles where sponsorship has been confirmed for your specific status, whether that's F-1 OPT, TN, or H-1B transfer.
Time Your TN Application to Your Project Start Date
Canadian and Mexican engineers qualifying under TN status can apply at a port of entry without USCIS pre-approval. If Westwood extends an offer, request a detailed offer letter specifying your engineering role and confirm it maps to the TN engineer classification before traveling to the border.

Find Professional Engineer at Westwood Professional Services JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Westwood Professional Services sponsor H-1B visas for Professional Engineers?
Yes, Westwood Professional Services sponsors H-1B visas for Professional Engineer roles. As a consulting firm with active hiring across engineering disciplines, they have experience supporting the H-1B petition process through USCIS. If you're on OPT and targeting a full-time offer, confirm with the recruiting team early that your specific role and location are eligible for cap-subject or cap-exempt filing.
How do I apply for Professional Engineer jobs at Westwood Professional Services?
Browse open Professional Engineer positions directly on Westwood's careers page or use Migrate Mate to filter roles by visa sponsorship type and discipline. When applying, submit a resume that reflects project-based engineering experience relevant to Westwood's consulting verticals, such as civil, transportation, or environmental work. Address PE licensure status clearly in your application materials, as this is a common screening criterion at this level.
Which visa types are commonly used for Professional Engineer roles at Westwood Professional Services?
Westwood Professional Services has sponsored H-1B, TN, J-1, and F-1 OPT and CPT visas for engineering roles, and has pathways for employment-based Green Card sponsorship through EB-2 and EB-3 classifications. The right visa depends on your nationality and education level. Canadian and Mexican engineers often use TN status for faster entry, while most other nationalities pursue H-1B sponsorship.
What qualifications and experience does Westwood Professional Services expect for Professional Engineer roles?
Westwood typically looks for a bachelor's degree in civil, environmental, mechanical, or a related engineering discipline, along with a state PE license or demonstrated progress toward licensure. Project experience in consulting environments is valued, particularly roles involving client interaction, design deliverables, or regulatory permitting. International candidates whose degrees are from outside the U.S. should have their credentials evaluated to confirm equivalency to a U.S. four-year engineering degree.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for a Professional Engineer position at Westwood Professional Services?
Timeline depends on visa type. TN status for Canadian or Mexican engineers can be granted at the border on the day of travel. H-1B petitions filed under standard USCIS processing take three to six months, with premium processing available for a faster decision. If Westwood initiates EB-2 or EB-3 Green Card sponsorship, expect the full PERM and I-140 process to take one to two years before you reach the adjustment of status stage.
