Align your credentials to specialty occupation standards
Westwood's Engineering Project Manager roles typically require a degree in civil, mechanical, or a related engineering discipline. Make sure your transcripts and any foreign credential evaluations clearly show that field-specific match before you apply.
Target open roles across Westwood's service lines
Westwood staffs project managers across land development, transportation, and environmental consulting. Filtering by service line when you search narrows you to teams that are actively building and more likely to have budget approved for sponsored hires.
Clarify sponsorship intent early in the interview process
Consulting firms like Westwood often have a centralized HR function handling visa petitions. Ask directly during your first recruiter call whether the specific team has sponsored this role before, so you're not discovering a roadblock after an offer is extended.
Understand how OPT cap-gap protection affects your start date
If your F-1 OPT expires before an H-1B approval, the cap-gap rule lets you keep working through September 30 of that year. Confirm your I-20 end date and OPT card timing with your designated school official before setting a target start date with Westwood.
Prepare for a PERM timeline if a Green Card path is your goal
Westwood sponsors EB-2 and EB-3 Green Cards for engineering roles, which requires a DOL PERM labor certification before USCIS filing. That process can run 12 to 18 months, so raise long-term sponsorship expectations during offer negotiation, not after you've signed.
Use Migrate Mate to find open roles that match your visa type
Westwood posts Engineering Project Manager openings across multiple locations and specializations. Use Migrate Mate to filter specifically for roles at Westwood that align with your current visa status, so you're only spending time on positions you're actually eligible for.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Westwood Professional Services sponsor H-1B visas for Engineering Project Managers?
Yes, Westwood Professional Services sponsors H-1B visas for Engineering Project Manager roles. The position typically qualifies as a specialty occupation because it requires at least a bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline. Your degree field needs to directly relate to the scope of the role, which Westwood's HR team will confirm during the offer stage when they initiate the USCIS petition process.
How do I apply for Engineering Project Manager jobs at Westwood Professional Services?
You can browse and apply for Engineering Project Manager openings at Westwood Professional Services through Migrate Mate, which surfaces roles filtered by visa sponsorship eligibility. Westwood posts positions across multiple service lines and U.S. regions, so searching by location and specialization helps you identify the teams actively hiring. Submitting a tailored application that highlights relevant project delivery experience and your engineering credentials will give you the strongest start.
Which visa types does Westwood Professional Services commonly use for Engineering Project Manager roles?
Westwood sponsors several visa categories for Engineering Project Managers, including H-1B, TN visa (for Canadian and Mexican nationals), F-1 OPT and CPT for students finishing engineering programs, J-1 visa for exchange visitors, and EB-2 or EB-3 immigrant visas for candidates pursuing a Green Card. The right category depends on your citizenship, degree, and where you are in your immigration journey.
What qualifications does Westwood Professional Services expect for Engineering Project Manager roles?
Westwood generally looks for a bachelor's degree in civil, mechanical, electrical, or another relevant engineering field, combined with demonstrated experience managing multidisciplinary projects in a consulting or infrastructure context. Professional licensure such as a PE or PMP certification is often preferred and can strengthen both your candidacy and the specialty occupation determination required for H-1B sponsorship. Field-specific experience in land development, transportation, or environmental services is a practical differentiator.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take when starting an Engineering Project Manager role at Westwood Professional Services?
Timeline depends on the visa type. For H-1B, USCIS regular processing runs three to six months, and Westwood can request premium processing for a 15-business-day adjudication if your start date is time-sensitive. For OPT extensions, USCIS recommends filing 90 days before your current authorization expires. PERM-based Green Card sponsorship through EB-2 or EB-3 runs considerably longer, often 18 months or more from DOL certification through USCIS approval.
