Align your credentials to U.S. PE pathways
Westwood values licensed engineering credentials. If you hold a foreign engineering degree, get it evaluated by a NACES-member organization before applying. Many civil consulting firms, including Westwood, treat PE licensure eligibility as a differentiator in competitive hiring pools.
Target Westwood's land development and infrastructure divisions
Westwood's Civil Project Manager openings skew toward land development, site civil, and public infrastructure work. Tailor your resume and cover letter to those service lines specifically rather than sending a generic civil engineering application.
Identify open roles through Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to filter Civil Project Manager openings at Westwood Professional Services by visa type. This helps you confirm which active postings are tied to sponsorship-eligible positions before you spend time customizing your application.
Clarify your visa status early in outreach
Consulting firms like Westwood manage project staffing on tight timelines. When reaching out to a recruiter, state your current status, whether F-1 OPT, TN, or H-1B transfer, and your authorization end date upfront. Ambiguity here causes delays that can cost you the offer.
Understand how H-1B transfers work at the offer stage
If you're already on an H-1B with another employer, Westwood can file a transfer petition with USCIS that lets you start working upon receipt notice, before approval. Confirm this with their HR team during the offer discussion so filing timelines don't stall your start date.
Request PERM sponsorship clarity before accepting an offer
If long-term residency matters to you, ask directly whether Westwood initiates PERM-based Green Card sponsorship for Civil Project Managers, and how far into your tenure that process typically begins. DOL's PERM process takes time and benefits from early planning.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Westwood Professional Services sponsor H-1B visas for Civil Project Managers?
Yes, Westwood Professional Services sponsors H-1B visas for Civil Project Managers. The company has filed H-1B petitions for engineering and technical roles across its consulting practice. If you're already on an H-1B with another employer, a transfer to Westwood is possible and lets you begin work once USCIS issues a receipt notice, rather than waiting for full approval.
How do I apply for Civil Project Manager jobs at Westwood Professional Services?
You can find and apply for Civil Project Manager openings at Westwood Professional Services through their careers page or by browsing active listings on Migrate Mate, which filters roles by sponsorship eligibility. When you apply, tailor your materials to the specific service line, whether land development, site civil, or public infrastructure, since Westwood's PM roles vary meaningfully by practice area.
Which visa types does Westwood Professional Services commonly use for Civil Project Manager roles?
Westwood sponsors several visa categories for Civil Project Managers, including H-1B, TN visa for Canadian and Mexican nationals, F-1 OPT and CPT for students in active programs, J-1 visa for exchange visitors, and EB-2 or EB-3 immigrant visa categories for permanent residency pathways. The right visa depends on your nationality, degree level, and where you are in your career.
What qualifications does Westwood Professional Services expect for Civil Project Manager roles?
Westwood's Civil Project Manager roles typically require a bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a closely related field, along with demonstrated experience managing site civil, land development, or infrastructure projects. Professional Engineer licensure is a strong asset and may be required for senior-level roles. Foreign degrees should be evaluated by a NACES-member credential assessment service to confirm U.S. equivalency before applying.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take if I receive an offer from Westwood?
Timeline depends on your visa type. H-1B transfers for candidates already holding H-1B status can allow a same-day start once USCIS issues a receipt notice. New H-1B cap-subject petitions are tied to the annual lottery, with an October 1 start date at the earliest. TN status for Canadian nationals can be obtained at a port of entry on the day of travel. For PERM-based Green Card sponsorship, the DOL process alone takes 12 to 18 months before USCIS filing begins.
