Align your credentials to specialty occupation standards
USCIS scrutinizes whether a Service Engineer role truly requires a specialized degree. Before applying, confirm your engineering degree field maps directly to the technical scope of the posted role. A mismatch between your credential and the job description is a common petition risk.
Target open requisitions with defined technical scope
Westwood posts Service Engineer roles across multiple consulting verticals. Prioritize postings that list specific technical requirements, client-facing deliverables, or domain expertise rather than broad utility roles. Specialty occupation petitions are stronger when the job description is precise.
Use Migrate Mate to filter Westwood sponsorship openings
Search and filter verified Service Engineer openings at Westwood Professional Services by visa type directly through Migrate Mate. This lets you confirm which active postings align with your current status before investing time in applications.
Clarify OPT authorization timing before your start date
If you're on F-1 OPT, confirm that your STEM OPT extension or remaining OPT days cover Westwood's typical onboarding timeline. Consulting firms often have structured start cycles, and gaps between authorization and your start date can complicate the offer.
Ask about the H-1B cap exemption status during interviews
Westwood is a for-profit consulting firm, so it's cap-subject. If you've already been counted against the H-1B cap at a prior employer, a transfer is possible without lottery exposure. Confirm this directly with their HR or immigration counsel during the offer stage.

Does Westwood Professional Services sponsor H-1B visas for Service Engineers?
Yes, Westwood Professional Services sponsors H-1B visas for Service Engineer roles. As a cap-subject employer in the for-profit consulting sector, new H-1B petitions require lottery selection in April unless you already hold H-1B status with a prior employer. In that case, Westwood can file an H-1B transfer without lottery exposure, which is a meaningful advantage if you're already in status.
How do I apply for Service Engineer jobs at Westwood Professional Services?
Browse verified Service Engineer openings at Westwood Professional Services through Migrate Mate, where you can filter roles by visa type and sponsorship eligibility. Once you identify a matching posting, apply directly through Westwood's careers portal. Tailoring your application to the specific technical scope listed in the job description strengthens your petition if sponsorship is required.
Which visa types does Westwood Professional Services commonly use for Service Engineers?
Westwood sponsors H-1B visas as the primary work authorization pathway for Service Engineers, along with F-1 OPT and CPT for students and recent graduates. TN status is available for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying engineering categories. For candidates pursuing permanent residence, Westwood has also sponsored EB-2 and EB-3 employment-based Green Card pathways.
What qualifications does Westwood Professional Services expect for Service Engineer roles?
Service Engineer roles at Westwood typically require a bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline, such as mechanical, electrical, or systems engineering. Client-facing consulting experience, technical problem-solving in the field, and familiarity with service delivery frameworks are commonly expected. For H-1B petitions, your degree field must map directly to the role's technical requirements to satisfy USCIS specialty occupation standards.
How do I plan my timeline if I'm waiting on H-1B lottery results for a Westwood offer?
H-1B lottery registrations open in March, with USCIS typically notifying selected registrants by late March or April. If selected, Westwood's immigration counsel can file your petition starting April 1, with employment authorized from October 1 of that year. If you're on expiring OPT, confirm whether a cap-gap extension covers the gap between your OPT end date and October 1.
