Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Development Engineer Jobs at Arcadis Jobs
Align your credentials to Arcadis project sectors
Arcadis organizes Development Engineer roles around specific technical verticals like water, transportation, and environment. Framing your degree and project experience around one of these practice areas signals fit faster than a general engineering resume.
Verify your degree meets specialty occupation standards
USCIS requires Development Engineer roles to qualify as specialty occupations under H-1B rules. A bachelor's or higher in civil, environmental, structural, or a directly related engineering discipline strengthens your petition and reduces RFE risk.
Target Arcadis offices in H-1B cap-exempt circumstances
If you're transitioning off OPT or CPT, timing your Arcadis application to allow for a cap-subject H-1B filing by April gives you a full fiscal year of runway. Confirm your OPT end date and STEM extension eligibility before your final interview round.
Ask about prevailing wage tier during offer negotiations
DOL prevailing wage determinations for Development Engineer roles vary by location and experience level. Understanding which wage tier your offer falls under helps you evaluate the offer honestly and avoids surprises during the Labor Condition Application stage.
Search for open Development Engineer roles on Migrate Mate
Arcadis posts Development Engineer openings across multiple locations at varying seniority levels. Use Migrate Mate to filter specifically for Arcadis roles that indicate visa sponsorship so you're applying where your sponsorship needs are already expected.
Prepare a licensure plan before your interview
Many Development Engineer positions at Arcadis require or favor Engineer-in-Training or Professional Engineer licensure. If you're internationally trained, researching your state board's path to licensure before your interview demonstrates professional seriousness and removes a common hiring hesitation.

Find Development Engineer at Arcadis JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Arcadis sponsor H-1B visas for Development Engineers?
Yes, Arcadis sponsors H-1B visas for Development Engineers and has a consistent pattern of doing so across its U.S. practice areas. The company also works with F-1 OPT and CPT candidates who are earlier in their immigration timeline. If you're targeting an H-1B, confirming sponsorship intent with your recruiter before the offer stage saves time for both sides.
Which visa types does Arcadis commonly use for Development Engineer roles?
Arcadis sponsors a range of visa types for Development Engineer positions, including H-1B, H-1B1 for Chilean and Singaporean nationals, TN for Canadian and Mexican engineers, F-1 OPT and CPT for recent graduates, J-1 for exchange visitors, and employment-based Green Card pathways including EB-2 and EB-3 for longer-tenure employees seeking permanent residence.
How do I apply for Development Engineer jobs at Arcadis?
Applications go through Arcadis's careers portal, where you can filter by role type and location. You can also find Arcadis Development Engineer openings on Migrate Mate, which filters specifically for roles open to visa sponsorship. Tailoring your application to the specific technical vertical, such as water infrastructure or environmental remediation, significantly improves your chances of reaching the interview stage.
What qualifications does Arcadis expect for Development Engineer candidates?
Arcadis typically expects a bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant engineering discipline such as civil, environmental, structural, or mechanical engineering. Many roles prefer candidates who are working toward or have obtained Engineer-in-Training status. Prior project experience in Arcadis's core sectors, including transportation, water, or buildings, is a strong differentiator at the resume screening stage.
How do I time my application to align with H-1B filing deadlines?
USCIS opens H-1B cap registration in early March each year, with the cap filing period beginning April 1 for an October 1 employment start. If you're on OPT, you need an approved H-1B petition before your OPT expires, so starting your Arcadis job search at least six months before your OPT end date gives you realistic runway to clear the lottery and filing process.
