Align your portfolio to Adobe's product stack
Adobe's Development Engineer roles cluster around Creative Cloud, Experience Cloud, and Document Cloud. Tailoring your GitHub projects or work samples to areas like real-time rendering, cloud-native APIs, or PDF processing signals direct relevance before your application reaches a hiring manager.
Confirm OPT or CPT authorization before applying
If you're on F-1 status, verify your OPT start date and the 60-day reporting window with your DSO before accepting an offer. Adobe uses E-Verify, so your employment authorization must be current and correctly documented from day one.
Target teams with active H-1B LCA filings
Adobe files Labor Condition Applications with the DOL at the team level, not company-wide. Development Engineer roles in Adobe's San Jose, San Francisco, and Seattle offices appear most frequently in public LCA disclosure data, so prioritizing those locations improves your H-1B sponsorship odds.
Prepare specialty occupation documentation early
USCIS scrutinizes H-1B petitions for Development Engineer titles when the role description is broad. Work with Adobe's immigration team to ensure your offer letter specifies the degree field required, not just a generic computer science background, to meet the specialty occupation standard.
Use Migrate Mate to filter open roles by visa type
Adobe posts Development Engineer openings across multiple business units at different sponsorship thresholds. Migrate Mate lets you filter specifically by visa category so you surface roles where H-1B, E-3, or TN sponsorship is actively supported, saving significant targeting time.
Account for PERM timelines if pursuing a Green Card
Adobe sponsors EB-2 and EB-3 Green Cards for Development Engineers, but PERM labor certification at the DOL currently runs 12 to 18 months before USCIS adjudication begins. Factor this into your H-1B renewal planning so your authorized stay covers the full permanent residency timeline.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Adobe sponsor H-1B visas for Development Engineers?
Yes, Adobe sponsors H-1B visas for Development Engineers and has done so consistently across its major U.S. engineering offices. Adobe's immigration support team works with candidates through the petition process, including premium processing where timelines require it. Roles in San Jose, Seattle, and San Francisco tend to have the most active H-1B sponsorship history based on DOL LCA disclosure data.
How do I apply for Development Engineer jobs at Adobe?
Applications go through Adobe's careers portal, where Development Engineer roles are listed by product team and location. Migrate Mate also surfaces these openings with visa sponsorship filters applied, which helps you identify positions where your specific visa category is supported before you invest time in a full application. Tailoring your resume to the specific Adobe product area the team owns strengthens your screening odds significantly.
Which visa types does Adobe commonly sponsor for Development Engineers?
Adobe sponsors H-1B, E-3 visa, TN visa, and J-1 visas for Development Engineers, along with F-1 OPT and CPT for students earlier in their authorization timeline. For engineers pursuing permanent residency, Adobe supports EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card pathways. The visa type used typically depends on your nationality, degree field, and how far along you are in the U.S. immigration process.
What qualifications does Adobe expect for Development Engineer roles?
Most Development Engineer postings at Adobe require a bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, software engineering, or a closely related field. For H-1B purposes, this degree requirement is critical because USCIS uses it to establish specialty occupation status. Adobe's engineering roles also emphasize systems programming, cloud infrastructure, or experience with the specific product suite the team owns, so generalist profiles without product alignment are less competitive.
How do I time my application around H-1B cap deadlines?
USCIS opens H-1B cap registration in early March each year, with the lottery selection typically announced by late March. Adobe needs time to prepare your petition before the April 1 filing window, so aligning your offer timeline to have an accepted position by February gives Adobe's immigration team enough runway. If you miss the cap cycle, Adobe can sometimes support cap-exempt pathways through affiliated research institutions or bridge your status with OPT extension while you wait for the next lottery.
