Align Your Degree to Financial Systems Engineering
JPMorganChase's Development Engineer roles frequently require degrees in computer science, software engineering, or a closely related field. A general IT or business degree may not satisfy specialty occupation requirements when USCIS reviews your H-1B petition for a technical finance role.
Target Teams That File Year-Round
JPMorganChase operates cap-exempt filing pathways for extensions and transfers, but new H-1B hires are cap-subject. Prioritize applying to roles posted before February so hiring timelines align with the April H-1B registration window and you're not held for a full additional year.
Browse Sponsored Development Engineer Roles on Migrate Mate
Filter for JPMorganChase Development Engineer openings on Migrate Mate to surface roles where visa sponsorship is confirmed. This saves time you'd otherwise spend screening postings that exclude sponsored candidates.
Prepare for a Multi-Round Technical Interview Loop
JPMorganChase's engineering interviews typically include system design, coding assessments, and a behavioral round with a hiring manager. Gaps in preparation at the system design stage are the most common reason offers stall before the sponsorship conversation even starts.
Understand How Your Offer Letter Affects LCA Filing
Your start date, work location, and job title in the offer letter feed directly into the Labor Condition Application that JPMorganChase files with DOL. A vague or placeholder work location can trigger a wage-level dispute or an LCA amendment before your I-129 is even submitted.
Ask HR Directly About EB-2 and EB-3 PERM Timelines
JPMorganChase sponsors Green Cards through both EB-2 and EB-3 categories for Development Engineers, but internal policies on when PERM is initiated vary by team and seniority level. Clarify this during the offer stage, not after you've already accepted.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does JPMorganChase sponsor H-1B visas for Development Engineers?
Yes, JPMorganChase sponsors H-1B visas for Development Engineers and has done so consistently across its technology and financial systems teams. The firm handles petitions for both new cap-subject hires and existing employees seeking extensions or employer transfers. Sponsorship availability can vary by team and hiring cycle, so confirming visa support early in the interview process is advisable.
Which visa types does JPMorganChase use for Development Engineer roles?
JPMorganChase sponsors H-1B, H-1B1 visa, and E-3 visas for Development Engineer positions, covering candidates from countries including Australia, Chile, and Singapore. For longer-term pathways, the firm also files EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card petitions through the PERM labor certification process with DOL. The appropriate visa type depends on your nationality, degree, and where you are in the hiring process.
What qualifications does JPMorganChase expect for Development Engineer roles?
JPMorganChase typically requires a bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, software engineering, or a closely related technical discipline for Development Engineer positions. Proficiency in languages such as Java, Python, or C++ is common, along with experience in distributed systems or financial technology infrastructure. Roles at higher seniority levels may expect prior experience in regulated financial environments or large-scale system design.
How do I apply for Development Engineer jobs at JPMorganChase?
You can browse and apply for Development Engineer roles at JPMorganChase directly through the firm's careers portal or through Migrate Mate, which surfaces JPMorganChase openings where visa sponsorship is confirmed. Applications typically involve an online assessment followed by multiple technical and behavioral interview rounds. Preparing system design responses specific to high-volume transaction environments will strengthen your candidacy at this firm.
How do I plan around H-1B cap timing when targeting JPMorganChase?
If you need a new H-1B, USCIS opens cap registration each March for an October 1 start date. JPMorganChase hires on rolling cycles, so targeting roles posted between November and February gives your offer time to align with registration. If you're already in valid H-1B status with another employer, a transfer to JPMorganChase can happen outside the cap cycle at any point in the year.
