Align your degree to consulting specializations
Geosyntec's Development Engineer roles typically require a degree in civil, environmental, or geotechnical engineering. Confirm your transcripts clearly reflect the relevant specialization before applying, since H-1B approval depends on a direct field-to-role match.
Target offices near major project corridors
Geosyntec staffs Development Engineers close to active project regions. Applying to offices in growth markets for environmental remediation or infrastructure work increases your odds of landing a role with immediate billable need and sponsorship justification.
Research Geosyntec's LCA filings on DOL disclosure data
The DOL's OFLC disclosure database shows prevailing wage levels and job titles Geosyntec has filed for. Cross-referencing this with open Development Engineer postings helps you understand which seniority levels and locations have active sponsorship history.
Use Migrate Mate to filter open Development Engineer roles
Geosyntec posts Development Engineer openings across multiple offices at different seniority levels. Use Migrate Mate to filter specifically for Geosyntec listings by visa type so you're applying to roles with confirmed sponsorship support, not guessing from generic job boards.
Negotiate the H-1B timeline into your offer discussion
H-1B cap filings open in March for an October 1 start. If your offer comes after the lottery closes, ask whether Geosyntec will file for the following cycle or support a cap-exempt path through a qualifying nonprofit or university affiliation.

Does Geosyntec Consultants sponsor H-1B visas for Development Engineers?
Yes, Geosyntec Consultants sponsors H-1B visas for Development Engineer roles. The company has a consistent pattern of filing H-1B petitions for technical consulting positions, particularly in civil, environmental, and geotechnical engineering. Sponsorship is tied to project need and role seniority, so your strongest candidacy comes when you're applying to offices with active project pipelines.
How do I apply for Development Engineer jobs at Geosyntec Consultants?
You can find Development Engineer openings on Geosyntec's careers page or through Migrate Mate, which filters Geosyntec listings by visa sponsorship type so you can identify roles that match your work authorization status. Tailor your application to the specific engineering discipline the role requires, whether that's environmental, geotechnical, water resources, or another practice area Geosyntec operates in.
Which visa types does Geosyntec Consultants commonly use for Development Engineer positions?
Geosyntec sponsors several visa categories for Development Engineers, including H-1B, TN (for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying engineering roles), F-1 OPT and CPT for students in active degree programs or recent graduates, J-1 for exchange visitors, and employment-based Green Card pathways including EB-2 and EB-3 for longer-term hires.
What qualifications does Geosyntec Consultants expect for Development Engineer roles?
Most Development Engineer openings at Geosyntec require a bachelor's or master's degree in a relevant engineering discipline, such as civil, environmental, or geotechnical engineering. Practical experience with site investigations, remediation projects, or environmental compliance work strengthens your application significantly. Professional Engineer licensure or progress toward the PE exam is often preferred for mid-level roles.
How do I time my visa sponsorship process when applying to Geosyntec Consultants?
If you need H-1B sponsorship, the annual cap registration window runs in March, with employment starting October 1 at the earliest. Build that timeline into your job search and communicate it clearly during the offer stage. If you're on OPT, confirm your remaining authorized period covers the gap between your start date and the H-1B cap filing, or discuss a cap-gap scenario with Geosyntec's HR team directly.
