Align your resume to PCIe and CXL
Astera Labs builds semiconductor solutions around PCIe, CXL, and high-speed SerDes interfaces. Explicitly list experience with these protocols on your resume before applying. Hiring managers for Systems Engineer roles scan for signal integrity and interconnect expertise first.
Target roles before H-1B cap season
USCIS opens H-1B registration in March for an October 1 start date. Targeting Astera Labs openings in November through February gives your employer lead time to register before the cap window closes.
Verify your OPT STEM extension eligibility early
Systems Engineering at a semiconductor company qualifies as STEM employment under the F-1 STEM OPT extension, giving you up to 36 months of work authorization. Confirm your degree CIP code with your DSO before signing an offer, not after.
Ask about LCA filing during the offer stage
Your employer must file a certified Labor Condition Application with the DOL before submitting your H-1B petition to USCIS. Ask the recruiter which immigration counsel Astera Labs uses and confirm the LCA timeline fits your start date.
Prepare a hardware-focused portfolio for interviews
Astera Labs interviews Systems Engineers on validation methodology, bring-up procedures, and lab debugging of high-speed interfaces. Documented project work on actual hardware, especially at the board or chip level, differentiates candidates and strengthens your visa petition's specialty occupation justification.
Use Migrate Mate to filter open roles by visa type
Astera Labs posts Systems Engineer openings across multiple teams. Use Migrate Mate to filter active positions by the visa types the company sponsors, so you spend time applying to roles that match your current immigration status.

Find Systems Engineer at Astera Labs JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Astera Labs sponsor H-1B visas for Systems Engineers?
Yes, Astera Labs sponsors H-1B visas for Systems Engineers. The company works with immigration counsel to handle Labor Condition Application filings with the DOL and I-129 petitions with USCIS. If you're currently on OPT or another nonimmigrant status, it's worth raising sponsorship directly with the recruiter during early conversations to confirm timing aligns with your authorization window.
How do I apply for Systems Engineer jobs at Astera Labs?
Browse open Systems Engineer positions on Astera Labs' careers page or through Migrate Mate, which filters roles by visa sponsorship availability. Tailor your application to highlight high-speed interface experience, particularly PCIe, CXL, or SerDes, since those are central to the company's product lines. Applying through a warm referral from someone inside the hardware or validation team also improves response rates significantly.
Which visa types does Astera Labs commonly use for Systems Engineers?
Astera Labs sponsors H-1B visas as the primary long-term work authorization path for Systems Engineers. The company also supports F-1 OPT and STEM OPT extensions for recent graduates, and TN status for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying engineering roles. For permanent residence, EB-2 and EB-3 immigrant visa categories are used, typically after a period of full-time employment.
What qualifications does Astera Labs expect from Systems Engineer candidates?
Astera Labs typically looks for a bachelor's or master's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or a closely related field. Hands-on experience with high-speed digital interfaces, signal integrity analysis, or hardware bring-up is strongly preferred. For visa petition purposes, the degree-to-role alignment matters: your specific field of study should map directly to the technical scope of the Systems Engineer position.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for a Systems Engineer offer at Astera Labs?
Timeline depends on your current status. If you're on F-1 OPT, your employer can start the H-1B registration process during the March window for an October 1 cap start date. USCIS standard processing for an H-1B petition runs roughly three to six months after the registration lottery. Premium processing reduces that to 15 business days. For Green Card sponsorship, PERM labor certification alone typically takes 12 to 18 months before immigrant visa petition filing.
