Align your credentials to BCG's technical stack
BCG's IT engineering roles emphasize enterprise infrastructure, cloud platforms, and systems integration that support global consulting operations. Before applying, map your experience to those specific domains rather than positioning yourself as a generalist software engineer.
Research BCG's LCA filings on FLAG
BCG files Labor Condition Applications with the DOL before sponsoring any H-1B. Search the FLAG portal for Senior IT Engineer LCA disclosures at BCG to confirm prevailing wage levels and active sponsorship activity for this specific role title.
Target BCG's enterprise and internal IT hiring
BCG hires Senior IT Engineers for both client-facing technology delivery and internal infrastructure teams. Applications to the internal IT track often face less competition than consulting-side roles, and sponsorship pathways are equally accessible across both tracks.
Prepare for specialty occupation scrutiny early
USCIS requires H-1B petitions to demonstrate that Senior IT Engineer roles qualify as specialty occupations. Build a clear narrative connecting your specific degree field to the technical requirements in the job description before your offer letter is finalized.
Use Migrate Mate to surface open BCG IT roles
Senior IT Engineer positions at BCG that include visa sponsorship can be hard to identify without filtering for sponsorship eligibility. Use Migrate Mate to browse verified open roles at BCG and target your application to positions where sponsorship is already confirmed.
Confirm your visa type before accepting an offer
BCG sponsors multiple nonimmigrant categories including H-1B, E-3, TN, and H-1B1 visa. If you qualify for E-3 or TN, you can bypass the H-1B lottery entirely and start sooner. Clarify which category BCG will file under before signing so your timeline is accurate.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Boston Consulting Group sponsor H-1B visas for Senior IT Engineers?
Yes, BCG sponsors H-1B visas for Senior IT Engineer roles. The company files Labor Condition Applications with the DOL and submits H-1B petitions through USCIS for qualifying technical positions. Because BCG is a large employer, it participates in the annual H-1B lottery, so your start date will depend on selection and the cap-subject filing cycle.
Which visa types does Boston Consulting Group commonly sponsor for Senior IT Engineers?
BCG sponsors several nonimmigrant visa categories for Senior IT Engineers, including H-1B, E-3 visa for Australian citizens, TN visa for Canadian and Mexican nationals, H-1B1 visa for Singaporean and Chilean citizens, and F-1 OPT and CPT for students in their practical training period. If you qualify for E-3 visa or TN visa, you can avoid the H-1B lottery and start work sooner after receiving your offer.
What qualifications and experience does BCG expect for Senior IT Engineer roles?
BCG typically expects candidates for Senior IT Engineer roles to hold a bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or a closely related technical field. Relevant experience in enterprise infrastructure, cloud architecture, systems integration, or IT service delivery within large organizations is strongly preferred. For H-1B purposes, your degree must align directly with the specific technical responsibilities in the role.
How do I apply for Senior IT Engineer jobs at Boston Consulting Group?
You can search and apply for Senior IT Engineer positions at BCG through Migrate Mate, which filters roles by visa sponsorship eligibility so you can confirm BCG is open to sponsoring before you apply. Applications typically involve a resume screen, technical assessments, and multiple rounds of interviews focused on both technical depth and consulting-environment fit.
How do I plan my timeline for BCG H-1B sponsorship as a Senior IT Engineer?
If you need an H-1B, USCIS opens registration in March for an October 1 start date. You'll need your offer finalized and LCA certified before BCG can file your petition in April. If you're on F-1 OPT, confirm your OPT expiration date early. If you don't clear the lottery, BCG may bridge your employment through cap-exempt channels or alternative visa categories depending on your eligibility.
