Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Clinical Nurse Jobs at Boston Medical Center Jobs
Get Your NCLEX and Credentials Evaluated Early
Before BMC's recruiting team can move you forward, you'll need an active RN license in Massachusetts and a credentials evaluation from a CGFNS-approved body. Start both processes before you apply, not after you receive an offer.
Target Units With Chronic Staffing Demand
BMC consistently posts Clinical Nurse openings in high-acuity units like the emergency department, ICU, and behavioral health. Focusing your application on these specialties puts you in front of hiring managers with the most urgent need and the strongest incentive to sponsor.
Understand How BMC Uses EB-3 for Nurses
Many hospitals sponsor international nurses through the EB-3 immigrant visa, which requires PERM labor certification filed with the DOL. Ask your recruiter directly whether BMC initiates PERM concurrently with your H-1B petition or only after a defined employment period.
Use Migrate Mate to Filter BMC Nursing Roles
Not every Clinical Nurse posting at BMC is open to sponsored candidates. Use Migrate Mate to filter specifically for BMC roles that include visa sponsorship, so you're not spending time on listings that won't move your immigration status forward.
Confirm H-1B Cap Exemption Status With HR
As a nonprofit teaching hospital affiliated with Boston University, BMC likely qualifies as a cap-exempt H-1B employer. That means USCIS can process your petition year-round without waiting for the April lottery, which significantly shortens your path to starting work.
Negotiate Your Start Date Around I-129 Processing
Once BMC extends an offer and commits to sponsorship, your start date depends on USCIS adjudicating the I-129 petition. Build in realistic buffer time and ask HR whether they file with premium processing, which reduces the USCIS review window to roughly 15 business days.

Find Clinical Nurse at Boston Medical Center JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Boston Medical Center sponsor H-1B visas for Clinical Nurses?
Yes. Boston Medical Center sponsors H-1B visas for Clinical Nurses, and as a nonprofit academic medical center affiliated with Boston University, it likely qualifies as a cap-exempt H-1B employer. That means petitions can be filed with USCIS at any time of year, bypassing the annual lottery that affects most H-1B applicants. Confirm cap-exempt status directly with BMC's HR or international hiring team before you finalize your timeline.
How do I apply for Clinical Nurse jobs at Boston Medical Center?
You can find Clinical Nurse openings at BMC through their careers portal or through Migrate Mate, which filters specifically for roles open to visa sponsorship. When applying, make sure your resume reflects U.S. nursing licensure status, relevant unit experience, and any specialty certifications like BLS or ACLS, which BMC requires for most clinical roles.
Which visa types does Boston Medical Center use for Clinical Nurses?
BMC sponsors Clinical Nurses through both the H-1B nonimmigrant visa and immigrant visa pathways including EB-2 and EB-3. The EB-3 route is common for nurses and involves PERM labor certification filed with the DOL before USCIS adjudicates the immigrant petition. Some nurses begin on an H-1B and transition to an employment-based Green Card as their priority date becomes current.
What qualifications does Boston Medical Center expect for Clinical Nurse roles?
BMC expects candidates to hold an active Massachusetts RN license, a BSN from an accredited program, and relevant clinical experience in the unit they're applying to. For internationally trained nurses, a credentials evaluation from a CGFNS-approved organization is typically required before the hiring process advances. Specialty certifications like CCRN or CEN strengthen applications for high-acuity units like the ICU or emergency department.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for a Clinical Nurse at Boston Medical Center?
Timeline depends on the visa pathway. For H-1B, BMC files Form I-129 with USCIS, and standard processing takes three to five months. Premium processing reduces that to roughly 15 business days. For EB-3, the PERM labor certification alone can take 12 to 18 months at DOL before the immigrant petition stage begins. Starting your credential evaluations and licensure process early reduces delays once an offer is on the table.
