Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Mechanical Engineer Jobs at CBRE Jobs
Align your credentials to CBRE's engineering divisions
CBRE structures its mechanical engineering roles under distinct business lines, including facilities management and project delivery. Tailor your resume to reflect MEP systems, HVAC design, or energy optimization experience depending on which division's roles you're targeting.
Identify roles that map to your visa category
CBRE sponsors multiple visa types, so match your status to the right opportunity. F-1 OPT holders can apply immediately, while TN applicants in relevant engineering disciplines can often start without a waiting period, unlike H-1B which requires the annual lottery.
Search CBRE's open mechanical engineering positions on Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to filter CBRE's Mechanical Engineer openings by visa type and location. This lets you focus only on roles where your specific work authorization is actively supported, saving time you'd otherwise spend screening job listings manually.
Prepare your specialty occupation documentation early
USCIS requires H-1B petitions to demonstrate that the role is a specialty occupation. For CBRE's Mechanical Engineer positions, gather documentation showing your degree directly relates to the engineering discipline required, including transcripts and any professional engineering licensure.
Confirm LCA wage levels before evaluating offers
Your employer files a Labor Condition Application with the DOL before your H-1B can proceed. Review the prevailing wage level tied to CBRE's posted position to ensure the offered compensation meets DOL requirements for the specific location and role classification.
Factor PERM timing into your long-term planning
If CBRE sponsors you for an EB-2 or EB-3 Green Card, the PERM labor certification process adds significant lead time before USCIS can adjudicate your immigrant petition. Raising this conversation with your hiring manager early helps set realistic expectations about permanent residency timelines.

Find Mechanical Engineer at CBRE JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does CBRE sponsor H-1B visas for Mechanical Engineers?
Yes, CBRE sponsors H-1B visas for Mechanical Engineers. Mechanical engineering roles typically qualify as specialty occupations under USCIS criteria because they require at minimum a bachelor's degree in a directly related engineering field. CBRE's scale across facilities, project management, and engineering services means it regularly files H-1B petitions for technical roles at various U.S. locations.
How do I apply for Mechanical Engineer jobs at CBRE?
You can browse open Mechanical Engineer positions at CBRE through Migrate Mate, which filters roles by visa sponsorship type so you can identify opportunities aligned to your work authorization. Once you find a relevant role, applications go through CBRE's careers portal. Having your resume tailored to the specific business line, such as facilities management or project delivery, strengthens your application.
Which visa types does CBRE commonly use for Mechanical Engineer roles?
CBRE sponsors Mechanical Engineers on H-1B, H-1B1, TN, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, J-1, and employment-based immigrant visas including EB-2 and EB-3. For candidates already in the U.S. on F-1 OPT, CBRE can typically onboard without waiting for a new filing. TN is available for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying engineering categories.
What qualifications does CBRE expect for sponsored Mechanical Engineer positions?
Most CBRE Mechanical Engineer roles require a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a closely related discipline. Depending on the division, CBRE looks for experience with MEP systems, HVAC design, energy management, or construction project delivery. Professional Engineer licensure strengthens candidacy, particularly for roles involving design-of-record responsibilities or client-facing project management.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take when joining CBRE as a Mechanical Engineer?
Timeline depends on your visa category. F-1 OPT and TN situations can move quickly, sometimes within weeks. H-1B sponsorship is tied to the annual lottery, with petitions filed in April for an October 1 start date. If CBRE pursues an EB-2 or EB-3 Green Card for you, the PERM labor certification process alone can take 12 months or more before USCIS adjudication begins.
