Frame your HR credentials for real estate
CBRE prioritizes HR professionals who understand workforce dynamics in project-based, commission-driven environments. Translate any experience supporting field operations, high-volume recruiting, or distributed teams into language that maps directly to commercial real estate hiring cycles.
Target CBRE's talent acquisition and HRBP tracks
CBRE's HR openings cluster around talent acquisition and HR business partner roles tied to specific business lines like Advisory or Real Estate Investments. Applying to roles within a defined business unit, rather than generic HR postings, signals the specialization CBRE looks for in sponsored candidates.
Verify your OPT or CPT timing against CBRE's hiring cycles
CBRE recruits HR roles on a rolling basis, but onboarding peaks in Q1 and Q3. If you're on F-1 OPT, confirm your remaining authorization window covers at least six months of employment before accepting an offer, since STEM extension eligibility doesn't apply to most HR roles.
Clarify visa type coverage before the offer stage
CBRE sponsors multiple visa categories for HR functions. Before negotiating an offer, confirm directly with the recruiter whether your specific category requires PERM labor certification, since EB-2 and EB-3 green card pathways involve DOL-supervised recruitment steps that affect your start timeline.
Use Migrate Mate to filter CBRE's live HR openings
CBRE posts Human Resources roles across dozens of markets simultaneously, and not all sponsorship-eligible positions are easy to identify. Use Migrate Mate to filter CBRE's active HR openings by visa type so you're applying to roles where sponsorship is already confirmed.
Prepare documentation that reflects USCIS specialty occupation standards
H-1B petitions for HR roles face higher USCIS scrutiny because the specialty occupation standard requires showing the position needs a degree in a specific field. Gather transcripts, job descriptions, and any prior HR certifications that connect your degree directly to the duties of the role.

Find Human Resources at CBRE JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does CBRE sponsor H-1B visas for Human Resources?
Yes, CBRE sponsors H-1B visas for Human Resources roles, though the process depends on the specific position and business unit. HR roles at CBRE must qualify as specialty occupations under USCIS standards, which means the job needs to require a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific field like Human Resources Management, Organizational Psychology, or a related discipline. Roles focused on HR business partnering or talent acquisition with clear degree requirements tend to have the strongest sponsorship eligibility.
How do I apply for Human Resources jobs at CBRE?
Applications go through CBRE's careers portal, where HR roles are posted by business line and region. The most effective approach is to apply to a specific business unit, such as Advisory Services or Real Estate Investments, rather than a generic corporate HR listing. Tailoring your resume to reflect experience with distributed or field-based workforces improves fit. You can also browse CBRE's sponsorship-confirmed HR openings on Migrate Mate to identify which roles are actively open to visa holders.
Which visa types does CBRE commonly sponsor for Human Resources roles?
CBRE sponsors several visa categories for HR professionals, including H-1B, H-1B1 for Chilean and Singaporean nationals, TN for Canadian and Mexican candidates, and F-1 OPT and CPT for students currently in authorized work periods. For longer-term immigration goals, CBRE also supports EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card pathways, which involve a PERM labor certification filed with the DOL before the immigrant petition can proceed. The applicable category depends on your nationality, degree, and career stage.
What qualifications does CBRE expect for sponsored Human Resources positions?
CBRE typically looks for HR professionals with a bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or Organizational Psychology, and relevant experience in HR business partnering, talent acquisition, or people operations. For sponsored roles, your degree and job duties need to align closely enough to satisfy USCIS's specialty occupation definition. Experience supporting large, geographically distributed workforces or industries with complex compensation structures, such as commercial real estate's commission-based models, is viewed favorably during the review process.
How do I handle the H-1B timing if I'm transitioning from OPT to a full-time HR role at CBRE?
If you're moving from F-1 OPT to an H-1B through CBRE, your employer needs to file the H-1B petition by April 1 for an October 1 start date, assuming you clear the annual lottery. You can continue working on a timely filed OPT extension during the cap-gap period if your OPT expires between April 1 and September 30. For most HR roles, STEM OPT extension doesn't apply, so your initial OPT window and any gap period coverage need to be confirmed early in the offer process.
