Align your credentials to CBRE's technical standards
CBRE's Engineering Technician roles often require certifications like EPA 608, OSHA 30, or low-voltage electrical credentials. Having these documented before you apply signals you can step into a facilities or building systems role without a ramp-up period.
Target CBRE's facility management accounts directly
CBRE operates large managed-services contracts for commercial landlords and corporate campuses. Roles tied to long-term facility accounts tend to have more stable sponsorship pipelines than project-based positions, so filter your search toward ongoing property management engagements.
Use Migrate Mate to filter open Engineering Technician roles by visa type
Not every CBRE Engineering Technician posting will explicitly mention sponsorship. Migrate Mate lets you filter specifically for roles where CBRE has a sponsorship track record, saving you from applying to positions that will stall at the offer stage.
Clarify your work authorization status before the offer stage
CBRE uses E-Verify for all new hires. If you're on F-1 OPT, confirm your EAD is current and that your STEM OPT extension timeline aligns with when CBRE would file your H-1B petition, since the H-1B cap registration window opens each March.
Frame your experience around HVAC, BMS, or MEP systems
CBRE's Engineering Technician postings consistently emphasize building automation, HVAC troubleshooting, and MEP system maintenance. Tailoring your resume to these specific system types rather than general electrical or mechanical experience improves your chances of clearing initial screening.
Confirm PERM eligibility requirements early for immigrant visa paths
If your goal is a Green Card through an EB-2 or EB-3 pathway, ask CBRE's HR team whether the Engineering Technician role meets DOL's prevailing wage and minimum qualification requirements before accepting an offer, since PERM requires the role's requirements to match exactly.

Does CBRE sponsor H-1B visas for Engineering Technicians?
Yes, CBRE sponsors H-1B visas for Engineering Technician roles. The role typically needs to qualify as a specialty occupation under USCIS standards, meaning it requires at least a bachelor's degree in a relevant technical field. CBRE also sponsors H-1B1 visas for eligible Chilean and Singaporean nationals in engineering and technical functions.
Which visa types does CBRE commonly use for Engineering Technician roles?
CBRE sponsors H-1B, H-1B1, TN, F-1 OPT, and F-1 CPT visas for Engineering Technician positions, as well as EB-2 and EB-3 immigrant visa pathways. TN visas are available to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying engineering occupations. F-1 OPT and CPT are common entry points for recent graduates before transitioning to H-1B sponsorship.
How do I apply for Engineering Technician jobs at CBRE?
You can search and apply for Engineering Technician roles at CBRE through Migrate Mate, which filters specifically for positions where CBRE has a documented sponsorship track record. This saves time compared to sifting through general job boards where visa sponsorship availability is rarely confirmed upfront. Apply directly through the job listing and be transparent about your work authorization status in your application.
What qualifications does CBRE expect for Engineering Technician candidates?
CBRE typically looks for hands-on experience with HVAC, building automation systems, MEP equipment, or low-voltage electrical systems. Relevant certifications such as EPA 608 refrigerant certification or OSHA safety credentials strengthen your application significantly. A technical degree or associate's degree in a related field is common, though equivalent trade experience combined with industry certifications can also meet the role's requirements.
How do I plan my timeline for H-1B sponsorship at CBRE?
The H-1B cap registration window opens each March, with an October 1 start date if selected. If you're on F-1 OPT, confirm your OPT or STEM OPT expiration date allows enough runway to remain work-authorized through the filing and approval process. CBRE would need to submit your petition before your current work authorization lapses, so align your offer acceptance and start date accordingly.
