OUR OPPORTUNITY:
Chewy Pharmacy Operations relies on timely, trusted data to deliver safe, efficient, and world class customer experience across Vet Services and Rx Fulfillment teams. We are looking for a Business Intelligence Engineer III (C06) to build scalable data foundations and deliver clear analytics and visualizations that help operators understand performance and act. This role blends data pipeline ownership, building and maintaining repeatable reporting mechanisms, and deep-dive analysis in partnership with Operations, Operations Support, and Technology teams.
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
- Design, develop, implement, test, document, and operate large-scale data models and BI solutions, including curated datasets, dashboards, and recurring reporting that support Pharmacy Operations.
- Build and maintain data ingestion and transformation routines (batch and, where needed, near real-time) using best practices in data modeling and ETL/ELT to ensure reliable, scalable pipelines.
- Deliver self-serve reporting and analysis through BI tools and well-structured semantic/abstraction layers that enable consistent metrics across multiple source systems.
- Gather business and functional requirements and translate them into robust, scalable, operable solutions that align with broader data architecture and downstream consumption patterns.
- Produce high-quality documentation, metadata, and clear metric definitions to improve trust, adoption, and long-term maintainability of Pharmacy Operations analytics products.
- Perform deep-dive analysis and root-cause investigations to explain performance trends, quantify impact, and recommend operational actions.
- Mentor and support other analysts by providing guidance on best practices, reviewing work for quality and consistency, and helping teammates strengthen skills in data modeling, visualization, and stakeholder communication.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Analytics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 5+ years of experience in Business Intelligence, Analytics Engineering, or Data Engineering roles delivering analytics solutions (for example dashboards, reporting, and curated datasets) for business teams.
- Proven experience designing and owning enterprise-grade data pipelines and data models spanning multiple business domains, including complex joins across multiple source systems, incremental processing, and handling late-arriving data.
- Strong SQL proficiency, including query optimization and building performant data models in a modern cloud data warehouse (Snowflake or equivalent).
- Solid knowledge of data warehouse concepts and methodologies, including dimensional modeling and designing curated data marts for downstream BI consumption.
- Experience building governed BI solutions and presenting insights clearly through visualizations (Tableau or comparable BI tool).
- Experience writing and reviewing version-controlled code (Git or equivalent) and following standards for documentation, testing/validation, and maintainability.
- Demonstrated ability to establish standards and influence best practices across an analytics team (for example code reviews, modeling conventions, metric governance), without requiring formal people management.
- Self-starter mindset with the ability to take initiative, drive ambiguous problems to clear solutions, and partner effectively across technical and business stakeholders.
BONUS
- Familiarity with dbt concepts and best practices, or experience migrating legacy SQL pipelines into a governed modeling framework.
- Experience implementing data quality monitoring, alerting, and incident response patterns for analytics datasets.
- Python for analysis and automation.

Frame your portfolio around retail data problems
Chewy's analytics team works on supply chain forecasting, customer lifetime value, and pet category merchandising. Projects that show you've worked with transactional or behavioral data at scale will resonate more than generic dashboards or academic datasets.
Confirm OPT STEM extension eligibility before applying
Data Analytics Engineer roles typically fall under CIP codes that qualify for the 24-month STEM OPT extension. Verify your degree field qualifies with your DSO before your initial OPT expires so there's no authorization gap during Chewy's hiring timeline.
Use Migrate Mate to filter open Data Analytics Engineer roles at Chewy
Chewy posts roles across multiple teams and locations, and not all listings are sponsorship-eligible. Migrate Mate lets you filter specifically for Chewy Data Analytics Engineer openings that are open to visa sponsorship, saving you time on applications that won't move forward.
Align your H-1B specialty occupation case to the role description
USCIS requires the Data Analytics Engineer position to qualify as a specialty occupation. When Chewy's legal team files your I-129, the job description needs to specify degree requirements in a related field. Review the posted requirements carefully and flag any vague language to your HR contact early.
Ask about PERM timing during the offer negotiation stage
If your long-term goal is a Green Card through EB-2 or EB-3, ask Chewy's recruiter when PERM sponsorship typically begins for this role. Some retail employers start the process at a fixed tenure milestone, so understanding their internal timeline helps you plan around H-1B cap years.
Prepare credentials showing proficiency with modern data stack tools
Chewy's engineering job postings for this function consistently reference tools like Snowflake, dbt, and Python-based pipelines. If your current role uses different tooling, documentation showing transferable skills or completed certifications strengthens both your application and your specialty occupation filing.

Find Data Analytics Engineer at Chewy JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Chewy sponsor H-1B visas for Data Analytics Engineers?
Yes, Chewy has a consistent record of sponsoring H-1B visas for Data Analytics Engineer roles. The company files petitions through the annual USCIS lottery, so timing your application and offer accordingly matters. If you're already in H-1B status with another employer, a transfer to Chewy is possible without waiting for the next lottery cycle.
Which visa types does Chewy commonly sponsor for Data Analytics Engineer roles?
Chewy sponsors H-1B and TN visas for Data Analytics Engineers, along with supporting F-1 OPT and CPT for candidates still in their authorization window. For longer-term sponsorship, the company has pursued EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card pathways for this function. The right visa type depends on your nationality, education, and how far along you are in the immigration process.
What qualifications does Chewy expect for Data Analytics Engineer positions?
Chewy's Data Analytics Engineer roles typically require a bachelor's degree or higher in a quantitative field such as computer science, statistics, or information systems. Hands-on experience with SQL, cloud data warehouses, and pipeline orchestration tools is expected. Candidates with retail or e-commerce analytics backgrounds tend to stand out, particularly those who have worked with large-scale behavioral or transactional datasets.
How do I apply for Data Analytics Engineer jobs at Chewy?
Start by browsing open Data Analytics Engineer listings at Chewy through Migrate Mate, which filters for roles open to visa sponsorship. Tailor your resume to reflect Chewy's retail analytics context, emphasizing any experience with supply chain, customer data, or product analytics. Apply directly through Chewy's careers portal and flag your visa status clearly in your application so the recruiting team can loop in their immigration counsel early.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take at Chewy for this role?
For H-1B sponsorship, the annual cap lottery runs in March with an October 1 start date, so you need an offer in place well before the registration window. H-1B premium processing through USCIS is available for faster adjudication. TN visa processing for Canadian and Mexican nationals is typically faster. PERM-based Green Card sponsorship, if applicable, adds a multi-year timeline on top of an approved H-1B.
