Align your experience with retail systems
Chewy's Engineering roles are deeply tied to e-commerce infrastructure, supply chain platforms, and fulfillment systems. Frame your resume around distributed systems, real-time data pipelines, or large-scale retail platform work before applying.
Target roles that match your visa category
H-1B specialty occupation requirements mean your degree field must connect directly to the Engineering role. Roles in software engineering, data engineering, and platform reliability at Chewy typically meet this bar, but a mismatch between your degree and the job title can create USCIS scrutiny.
Use Migrate Mate to identify active Engineering openings
Chewy's visa-sponsored Engineering positions aren't always labeled as such on general job boards. Search and filter by visa type on Migrate Mate to find current openings at Chewy that have a sponsorship track record in Engineering.
Clarify sponsorship scope during the offer stage
Before signing, confirm whether Chewy will cover the full H-1B petition process, including premium processing if timing is tight, and whether they support Green Card filing after your initial visa period. This matters most if you're transitioning off OPT.
File your LCA through DOL before H-1B submission
Your employer must submit a certified Labor Condition Application to the DOL before USCIS can accept the H-1B petition. Chewy's HR and legal teams handle this, but knowing the sequence helps you track where delays happen and ask the right questions.
Plan around the H-1B cap if you're on OPT
If you're currently working on F-1 OPT and targeting a full-time Engineering role at Chewy, the April H-1B lottery deadline is fixed. A late start to the application process means waiting a full additional year, so begin conversations with recruiters by January.

Find Engineering at Chewy JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Chewy sponsor H-1B visas for Engineers?
Yes, Chewy sponsors H-1B visas for Engineering roles. The company has an active sponsorship history across software engineering and related technical functions. To qualify, your role must meet USCIS specialty occupation standards, meaning the position typically requires at least a bachelor's degree in a directly related field such as computer science, software engineering, or a comparable discipline.
How do I apply for Engineering jobs at Chewy?
You can apply directly through Chewy's careers portal or find visa-sponsored Engineering openings filtered by sponsorship type on Migrate Mate. When applying, tailor your resume to highlight experience with large-scale e-commerce or retail platforms. During the recruiter screen, confirm sponsorship availability early so both sides can align on timing before an offer is extended.
Which visa types does Chewy commonly use for Engineering roles?
Chewy sponsors H-1B visas for most full-time Engineering hires and also supports F-1 OPT and CPT for students in earlier stages of their career. TN visas are an option for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying Engineering roles. For longer-term permanent residence, Chewy has supported EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card pathways through the PERM labor certification process.
What qualifications does Chewy typically look for in sponsored Engineering roles?
Chewy's Engineering teams prioritize experience with distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, and data platforms, reflecting the demands of a high-volume retail and fulfillment operation. A bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, software engineering, or a related technical field is standard. Hands-on experience with e-commerce tooling, microservices architecture, or supply chain systems strengthens your candidacy significantly.
How do I time the H-1B process if I receive a Chewy Engineering offer?
H-1B petitions are filed in April for an October 1 start date, following the annual USCIS lottery. If you receive an offer while on OPT, confirm that your OPT expiration date allows you to bridge to the October start. If there's a gap, check whether your employer can extend your OPT through STEM OPT, which provides up to 24 additional months for eligible degree holders.
