Align your background with retail BD
Chewy's Business Development roles often focus on supplier negotiations, category expansion, and wholesale partnerships. Frame your resume around measurable outcomes in those areas, not generic sales or strategy experience, before you start applying.
Identify roles with clear sponsorship signals
Use Migrate Mate to filter Business Development openings at Chewy by visa type. This lets you target roles where sponsorship has historically been offered, rather than applying broadly and discovering eligibility gaps at the offer stage.
Secure your OPT or CPT authorization early
If you're on F-1 status, have your DSO process your OPT authorization well before your program end date. USCIS recommends filing up to 90 days in advance, and a gap in work authorization can delay or derail an active offer.
Understand Chewy's H-1B filing calendar
H-1B cap-subject petitions must be filed in April for an October 1 start. If you're interviewing in fall or winter, discuss timing with your recruiter early so the offer structure accounts for the USCIS registration window in March.
Prepare your degree equivalency documentation
Business Development roles at Chewy that require a specialty occupation determination under H-1B need a direct-field degree match. If your degree is in a different discipline, gather credential evaluations and relevant coursework records before your HR screening call.
Ask about TN eligibility if you qualify
Canadian and Mexican nationals in Business Development roles may qualify for TN status under USMCA if the position maps to an eligible occupation like economist or management consultant. Confirm the job description supports TN classification with your immigration contact before signing.

Does Chewy sponsor H-1B visas for Business Developments?
Yes, Chewy sponsors H-1B visas for Business Development roles. The process involves your employer filing a Labor Condition Application with the DOL and then submitting a petition to USCIS. Cap-subject H-1B petitions are tied to the annual lottery, so timing your job search to align with the March registration window is important if you need a new H-1B.
How do I apply for Business Development jobs at Chewy?
You can browse open Business Development positions at Chewy directly through Migrate Mate, which filters roles by visa sponsorship type so you can confirm eligibility before applying. Once you identify a role, applications go through Chewy's career portal. Tailoring your application to highlight retail partnerships, vendor management, or category growth experience will strengthen your candidacy significantly.
Which visa types does Chewy commonly use for Business Development roles?
Chewy sponsors multiple visa categories for Business Development positions, including H-1B for specialty occupation workers, F-1 OPT and CPT for students and recent graduates, TN for eligible Canadian and Mexican nationals, and employment-based Green Cards through the EB-2 and EB-3 preference categories for longer-term sponsorship. The right visa depends on your nationality, education, and how the specific role is classified.
What qualifications does Chewy expect for Business Development roles?
Most Business Development positions at Chewy require a bachelor's degree in business, economics, marketing, or a related field. Experience in retail vendor relationships, supplier negotiations, or category management is valued heavily. For H-1B sponsorship purposes, the role must qualify as a specialty occupation, which generally means the degree requirement must be specific to the field, not a general bachelor's preference.
How do I time my job search if I need visa sponsorship for a role at Chewy?
If you need a cap-subject H-1B, start your search no later than January so an offer can be in place before the March USCIS registration window. F-1 OPT holders have more flexibility, but should confirm authorization timing with their DSO before accepting an offer. TN status can be obtained at a port of entry without a cap constraint, making it a faster path for eligible nationals.
