Frame Your Experience Around Retail Vendor Partnerships
Chewy's BD roles center on supplier negotiations and category expansion, not SaaS sales cycles. Tailor your resume to highlight merchandising partnerships, wholesale account growth, or marketplace vendor management so your background maps directly to their business model.
Confirm Your Visa Type Fits the Role Timeline
H-1B has a once-a-year lottery window with an April 1 start date, so if your OPT or current status expires before October, flag that clearly when discussing timelines with Chewy's recruiting team. A TN or O-1 may bridge the gap depending on your nationality and credentials.
Target Chewy's Category and Vendor-Facing BD Teams
Chewy structures BD around pet health, consumables, and hardgoods categories. Applying to roles aligned with a category where you have supplier or retail buying experience signals relevance beyond a generic business development background and increases your sponsorship conversation leverage.
Use Migrate Mate to Surface Chewy BD Openings Faster
Chewy posts Business Development Manager roles across multiple locations and categories, and openings can close quickly. Use Migrate Mate to filter specifically for Chewy roles that support visa sponsorship so you're applying to confirmed opportunities, not guessing from a general job board.
Understand What PERM Means for Your Long-Term Path
If you're targeting permanent residence, Chewy's sponsorship of EB-2 and EB-3 Green Cards requires a PERM labor certification filed with DOL before an immigrant petition. That process typically takes one to two years before USCIS even sees your I-140, so raise it early in the offer stage.
Prepare Your Specialty Occupation Documentation Before the Offer
H-1B petitions for BD Manager roles require demonstrating the position qualifies as a specialty occupation, meaning a specific bachelor's degree is the standard entry requirement. Gather your degree certificates, any credential evaluations, and offer letter language that ties the role to a defined academic discipline before your employer files.

Find Business Development Manager at Chewy JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Chewy sponsor H-1B visas for Business Development Managers?
Yes, Chewy sponsors H-1B visas for Business Development Manager roles. Because H-1B requires demonstrating the position is a specialty occupation, you'll want the job description to specify a degree requirement in a relevant field such as business, marketing, or supply chain management. Chewy's HR and legal teams are familiar with this process, so raising sponsorship early in the recruiter conversation is reasonable.
How do I apply for Business Development Manager jobs at Chewy?
Applications go through Chewy's careers portal, where BD roles are listed by category and location. Before applying, filter for roles that explicitly support visa sponsorship, since not every posting will. Migrate Mate lets you browse Chewy's open Business Development Manager positions filtered by sponsorship eligibility, which cuts down time spent on postings that won't move forward for international candidates.
Which visa types does Chewy commonly use for Business Development Manager roles?
Chewy sponsors H-1B visas for most professional hires, which is the standard nonimmigrant work visa for specialty occupations. F-1 OPT and CPT are also supported, making Chewy accessible to students and recent graduates earlier in their authorization period. TN visa holders from Canada and Mexico are eligible as well, provided the role maps to a qualifying TN occupation such as Management Consultant or Economist.
What qualifications does Chewy expect for a sponsored Business Development Manager?
Chewy typically looks for candidates with a bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related field, plus experience in retail buying, vendor partnerships, or category management. For H-1B sponsorship, your degree needs to align with the specific role. Relevant experience in e-commerce or consumer goods, particularly within pet, health, or consumables categories, strengthens your profile for both the hire and the visa petition.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take when joining Chewy as a Business Development Manager?
For H-1B, your employer files in April and employment typically begins October 1, so timing your offer around that window matters. F-1 OPT can begin sooner if your authorization is already active. If Chewy pursues a Green Card through EB-2 or EB-3, expect the PERM labor certification process with DOL to take one to two years before the immigrant petition stage, depending on your priority date and country of birth.
