Tailor your resume to retail engineering
Chewy's engineering roles lean heavily on e-commerce systems, inventory management, and fulfillment technology. Highlighting experience with high-throughput transactional systems or distributed platforms signals immediate fit and reduces friction during technical screening.
Confirm sponsorship before your interview
Chewy sponsors multiple visa types for Software Engineers, but not every role or team is approved for every category. Ask the recruiter directly which visa types the specific team has filed for, so there are no surprises at the offer stage.
Track open Software Engineer roles at Chewy
Chewy posts roles across multiple engineering functions, including platform, fulfillment, and data. Use Migrate Mate to filter specifically for Chewy Software Engineer openings that include visa sponsorship, so you're only applying where sponsorship is confirmed.
Prepare for a multi-round technical process
Chewy's Software Engineer interviews typically include system design and coding rounds. A stronger technical performance reduces employer hesitation around sponsorship overhead, since teams that want you badly enough will prioritize getting the filing done.
Know how PERM affects your long-term status
If you're targeting a Green Card through employment, ask whether Chewy supports PERM-based sponsorship for your role level. DOL's PERM process requires documenting a good-faith U.S. labor search, and initiating it early matters significantly for Indian and Chinese nationals facing backlogs.

Find Software Engineer at Chewy JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Chewy sponsor H-1B visas for Software Engineers?
Yes, Chewy sponsors H-1B visas for Software Engineer roles. The company has an established record of filing H-1B petitions for engineering positions. If you're in the H-1B lottery or transitioning from OPT, confirm with the recruiter early that the specific role and team are approved for H-1B sponsorship before accepting an offer.
How do I apply for Software Engineer jobs at Chewy?
You can browse and apply for Software Engineer roles at Chewy directly through Chewy's careers site. To find openings specifically confirmed for visa sponsorship, use Migrate Mate to filter Chewy's Software Engineer listings by visa type. Applying through a targeted list reduces time spent on roles that don't support your sponsorship category.
Which visa types does Chewy commonly sponsor for Software Engineers?
Chewy sponsors H-1B, TN, and F-1 OPT and CPT for Software Engineers, and also supports EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card pathways for longer-term sponsorship. TN is available to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying engineering roles. The right category depends on your nationality, degree, and where you are in your immigration timeline.
What qualifications does Chewy expect for Software Engineer roles?
Chewy's Software Engineer roles typically require a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a closely related field. Practical experience with distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, or e-commerce platforms strengthens your application. For H-1B eligibility, the position must qualify as a specialty occupation, meaning the degree requirement is specific to the role.
How do I time my application around H-1B filing deadlines?
USCIS opens H-1B registration each March for the following October 1 start date. To be included, you need a signed offer letter and a registered employer before the registration window closes. Targeting Chewy roles in the preceding January through February gives enough runway for the employer to complete registration before the USCIS deadline.
