OUR OPPORTUNITY:
Chewy Pharmacy Operations relies on timely, trusted data to deliver safe, efficient, and world class customer experience across Vet Services and Rx Fulfillment teams. We are looking for a Business Intelligence Engineer III (C06) to build scalable data foundations and deliver clear analytics and visualizations that help operators understand performance and act. This role blends data pipeline ownership, building and maintaining repeatable reporting mechanisms, and deep-dive analysis in partnership with Operations, Operations Support, and Technology teams.
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
- Design, develop, implement, test, document, and operate large-scale data models and BI solutions, including curated datasets, dashboards, and recurring reporting that support Pharmacy Operations.
- Build and maintain data ingestion and transformation routines (batch and, where needed, near real-time) using best practices in data modeling and ETL/ELT to ensure reliable, scalable pipelines.
- Deliver self-serve reporting and analysis through BI tools and well-structured semantic/abstraction layers that enable consistent metrics across multiple source systems.
- Gather business and functional requirements and translate them into robust, scalable, operable solutions that align with broader data architecture and downstream consumption patterns.
- Produce high-quality documentation, metadata, and clear metric definitions to improve trust, adoption, and long-term maintainability of Pharmacy Operations analytics products.
- Perform deep-dive analysis and root-cause investigations to explain performance trends, quantify impact, and recommend operational actions.
- Mentor and support other analysts by providing guidance on best practices, reviewing work for quality and consistency, and helping teammates strengthen skills in data modeling, visualization, and stakeholder communication.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Analytics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 5+ years of experience in Business Intelligence, Analytics Engineering, or Data Engineering roles delivering analytics solutions (for example dashboards, reporting, and curated datasets) for business teams.
- Proven experience designing and owning enterprise-grade data pipelines and data models spanning multiple business domains, including complex joins across multiple source systems, incremental processing, and handling late-arriving data.
- Strong SQL proficiency, including query optimization and building performant data models in a modern cloud data warehouse (Snowflake or equivalent).
- Solid knowledge of data warehouse concepts and methodologies, including dimensional modeling and designing curated data marts for downstream BI consumption.
- Experience building governed BI solutions and presenting insights clearly through visualizations (Tableau or comparable BI tool).
- Experience writing and reviewing version-controlled code (Git or equivalent) and following standards for documentation, testing/validation, and maintainability.
- Demonstrated ability to establish standards and influence best practices across an analytics team (for example code reviews, modeling conventions, metric governance), without requiring formal people management.
- Self-starter mindset with the ability to take initiative, drive ambiguous problems to clear solutions, and partner effectively across technical and business stakeholders.
BONUS
- Familiarity with dbt concepts and best practices, or experience migrating legacy SQL pipelines into a governed modeling framework.
- Experience implementing data quality monitoring, alerting, and incident response patterns for analytics datasets.
- Python for analysis and automation.

Frame your credentials around retail operations outcomes
Chewy's Business Manager roles sit at the intersection of merchandising, supplier management, and P&L ownership. Quantify your experience managing vendor negotiations or category growth before applying, since hiring managers are evaluating commercial impact, not just functional competency.
Target Chewy's category-specific hiring pipelines
Chewy structures its business management function by pet category, such as consumables, hardgoods, and pharmacy. Applying to roles aligned with categories where you have supplier or buyer experience gives your application a stronger foothold than a broad, category-agnostic submission.
Clarify your OPT or CPT timeline before your first interview
If you're on F-1 status, Chewy needs to know your available work authorization window upfront. Know your OPT start date and the 60-day grace period rules so you can answer timeline questions confidently without stalling the offer process.
Understand what H-1B cap timing means for your offer
H-1B registrations open in March with an October 1 start date. If Chewy extends an offer outside that window, ask their HR team whether a cap-exempt filing or a bridging arrangement using your existing status is available while you wait for the next cycle.
Use Migrate Mate to find open Business Manager roles at Chewy
Sponsorship-eligible Business Manager positions don't always surface on general job boards. Use Migrate Mate to filter Chewy's open roles by visa type so you're applying only to positions where sponsorship is already confirmed, not hoping it gets offered later.
Prepare for PERM labor certification early in the Green Card conversation
If Chewy initiates Green Card sponsorship through EB-2 or EB-3, the DOL's PERM process requires documenting that no qualified U.S. workers were available for your specific role. Keep records of your hiring process, job description, and any unique qualifications that support your candidacy.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Chewy sponsor H-1B visas for Business Managers?
Yes, Chewy sponsors H-1B visas for Business Manager roles. The company has an established process for filing H-1B petitions through USCIS, and Business Manager positions typically qualify as specialty occupations given the degree requirements in business, supply chain, or a related field. Confirm sponsorship availability with the recruiter during the initial screening call, before the offer stage.
How do I apply for Business Manager jobs at Chewy?
You can find Business Manager openings at Chewy through Migrate Mate, which filters roles by visa sponsorship eligibility so you're not wasting time on positions that won't support your status. Once you identify a relevant opening, apply directly through Chewy's careers portal and be upfront about your work authorization needs in the initial recruiter conversation.
Which visa types does Chewy commonly use for Business Manager roles?
Chewy sponsors several visa categories for Business Managers, including H-1B for specialty occupation workers, F-1 OPT and CPT for students and recent graduates, and TN visas for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying management or business analyst roles. For longer-term employment, Chewy also supports Green Card sponsorship through the EB-2 and EB-3 employment-based preference categories via the PERM labor certification process.
What qualifications does Chewy expect for a Business Manager role?
Chewy's Business Manager positions typically require a bachelor's degree in business, supply chain, economics, or a related field, along with experience in vendor management, category buying, or retail operations. Familiarity with e-commerce metrics, supplier negotiations, and inventory planning is valued. Roles vary by category, so experience aligned with Chewy's specific product verticals, such as pet consumables or specialty hardgoods, strengthens your candidacy significantly.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take when joining Chewy as a Business Manager?
Timeline depends on the visa type. H-1B sponsorship follows the annual cap cycle, with petitions filed in April and employment starting October 1 at the earliest. OPT authorization can allow you to start sooner if your F-1 status permits it. For Green Card sponsorship through PERM, the full process from labor certification to I-140 approval typically runs 12 to 24 months or longer, depending on USCIS and DOL processing volumes.
