Verify your veterinary license transfers correctly
Each U.S. state issues its own veterinary license, and Chewy's roles may require licensure in specific states depending on the telehealth delivery model. Confirm your NAVLE scores and credentials are transferable before applying.
Target Chewy's telehealth veterinarian openings specifically
Chewy's Connect with a Vet platform runs independently from its in-clinic roles. Telehealth positions often have faster hiring cycles and distinct sponsorship pathways, so filtering by that function gives you a more targeted application strategy.
Align your application with Chewy's retail-integrated care model
Chewy positions its veterinary roles at the intersection of clinical care and customer experience. Highlighting experience in high-volume or client-facing practice environments signals a direct fit with how they operate their care teams.
Clarify TN status eligibility before your offer stage
Canadian and Mexican veterinarians can pursue TN status without an H-1B lottery. Because TN processing happens at the port of entry or through a consulate, you can start work much faster than USCIS petition timelines allow.
Build your sponsorship case around USCIS specialty occupation criteria
Veterinarian roles at Chewy require a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree, which satisfies the USCIS specialty occupation standard cleanly. Document your DVM credential and any clinical specializations early to support the H-1B petition.
Use Migrate Mate to find open veterinarian roles at Chewy
Sponsoring employers in healthcare and retail don't always flag visa support clearly in job listings. Use Migrate Mate to filter Chewy's open veterinarian positions by visa type so you're only applying to roles where sponsorship is confirmed.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Chewy sponsor H-1B visas for Veterinarians?
Yes, Chewy sponsors H-1B visas for Veterinarian roles. Veterinary medicine qualifies as a specialty occupation under USCIS standards because it requires a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree. If you're subject to the H-1B cap, your employer will need to file during the annual lottery window, typically in March for an October start date.
Which visa types are commonly used for Veterinarian roles at Chewy?
The most common visa types for veterinarian roles at Chewy are H-1B, TN visa, and F-1 OPT. H-1B is the primary route for most international candidates. TN visa is available to Canadian and Mexican veterinarians under USMCA. F-1 OPT and CPT cover recent DVM graduates from U.S. veterinary schools during their authorized training period.
What qualifications and experience does Chewy expect for Veterinarian roles?
Chewy requires a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree and an active U.S. state veterinary license for clinical roles. For telehealth-specific positions, experience in general practice and comfort with remote client communication are strongly preferred. Specialized clinical experience in small animal medicine, dentistry, or urgent care can strengthen your candidacy for higher-level openings.
How do I apply for Veterinarian jobs at Chewy?
You can browse and apply for Veterinarian openings at Chewy through Migrate Mate, which filters roles by visa sponsorship type so you can confirm sponsorship availability before applying. On Chewy's careers page, filter by the Veterinary or Connect with a Vet category. Tailor your application to highlight clinical volume, patient outcomes, and any telehealth experience relevant to their care model.
How do I plan my timeline when Chewy is sponsoring my H-1B as a Veterinarian?
H-1B cap filings open in early March for an October 1 start date. If you're on F-1 OPT, confirm your OPT expiration date and whether you qualify for a 24-month STEM extension, which can bridge the gap if you don't get selected in your first lottery. For TN candidates, processing at a port of entry can take a single day, making the timeline significantly shorter than H-1B petition processing.
