OUR OPPORTUNITY:
Chewy Pharmacy Operations relies on timely, trusted data to deliver safe, efficient, and world class customer experience across Vet Services and Rx Fulfillment teams. We are looking for a Business Intelligence Engineer III (C06) to build scalable data foundations and deliver clear analytics and visualizations that help operators understand performance and act. This role blends data pipeline ownership, building and maintaining repeatable reporting mechanisms, and deep-dive analysis in partnership with Operations, Operations Support, and Technology teams.
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
- Design, develop, implement, test, document, and operate large-scale data models and BI solutions, including curated datasets, dashboards, and recurring reporting that support Pharmacy Operations.
- Build and maintain data ingestion and transformation routines (batch and, where needed, near real-time) using best practices in data modeling and ETL/ELT to ensure reliable, scalable pipelines.
- Deliver self-serve reporting and analysis through BI tools and well-structured semantic/abstraction layers that enable consistent metrics across multiple source systems.
- Gather business and functional requirements and translate them into robust, scalable, operable solutions that align with broader data architecture and downstream consumption patterns.
- Produce high-quality documentation, metadata, and clear metric definitions to improve trust, adoption, and long-term maintainability of Pharmacy Operations analytics products.
- Perform deep-dive analysis and root-cause investigations to explain performance trends, quantify impact, and recommend operational actions.
- Mentor and support other analysts by providing guidance on best practices, reviewing work for quality and consistency, and helping teammates strengthen skills in data modeling, visualization, and stakeholder communication.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Analytics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 5+ years of experience in Business Intelligence, Analytics Engineering, or Data Engineering roles delivering analytics solutions (for example dashboards, reporting, and curated datasets) for business teams.
- Proven experience designing and owning enterprise-grade data pipelines and data models spanning multiple business domains, including complex joins across multiple source systems, incremental processing, and handling late-arriving data.
- Strong SQL proficiency, including query optimization and building performant data models in a modern cloud data warehouse (Snowflake or equivalent).
- Solid knowledge of data warehouse concepts and methodologies, including dimensional modeling and designing curated data marts for downstream BI consumption.
- Experience building governed BI solutions and presenting insights clearly through visualizations (Tableau or comparable BI tool).
- Experience writing and reviewing version-controlled code (Git or equivalent) and following standards for documentation, testing/validation, and maintainability.
- Demonstrated ability to establish standards and influence best practices across an analytics team (for example code reviews, modeling conventions, metric governance), without requiring formal people management.
- Self-starter mindset with the ability to take initiative, drive ambiguous problems to clear solutions, and partner effectively across technical and business stakeholders.
BONUS
- Familiarity with dbt concepts and best practices, or experience migrating legacy SQL pipelines into a governed modeling framework.
- Experience implementing data quality monitoring, alerting, and incident response patterns for analytics datasets.
- Python for analysis and automation.

Tailor your portfolio to retail data
Chewy's analytics engineering work spans inventory forecasting, customer lifetime value, and fulfillment logistics. Showcase projects involving large-scale retail datasets, dbt models, or pipeline work tied to e-commerce metrics so hiring managers see direct relevance.
Clarify your OPT or CPT timeline early
If you're on F-1 OPT, tell the recruiter your end date in the first conversation. Chewy's hiring cycles can be lengthy, and confirming your authorization window upfront prevents last-minute complications when the offer stage arrives.
Ask about H-1B sponsorship during the offer stage
Once you have a written offer, ask HR directly whether sponsorship covers H-1B filing fees and legal counsel. Chewy uses external immigration attorneys, so knowing who coordinates the I-129 petition helps you track your own timeline against the April 1 cap-subject filing window.
Use Migrate Mate to target open roles efficiently
Filter Migrate Mate's job board specifically for Chewy analytics engineering openings that list visa sponsorship. This saves time verifying sponsorship eligibility role by role, so you can focus on tailoring applications rather than screening employers.
Verify Chewy's E-Verify enrollment before accepting
Employers must be enrolled in E-Verify to hire F-1 OPT STEM extension workers. Confirm Chewy's active enrollment on the official E-Verify employer search before signing an offer if you're counting on the 24-month STEM extension to bridge toward H-1B status.
Align your credentials to DOL prevailing wage levels
Chewy's analytics engineer roles typically require skills in SQL, Python, and cloud data warehousing. Before the PERM or LCA process starts, verify that your offered salary meets DOL prevailing wage requirements for the role's location to avoid delays in labor condition approval.

Find Analytics Engineer at Chewy JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Chewy sponsor H-1B visas for Analytics Engineers?
Yes, Chewy sponsors H-1B visas for Analytics Engineer roles. The company works with immigration counsel to file cap-subject H-1B petitions through the annual USCIS lottery, with registrations submitted in March and employment typically starting October 1 if selected. If you're on F-1 OPT, you'll want to confirm your OPT expiration date relative to the H-1B cap timeline during the offer process.
Which visa types does Chewy commonly sponsor for Analytics Engineer roles?
Chewy sponsors several visa categories for Analytics Engineers, including H-1B, TN for Canadian and Mexican nationals, and F-1 OPT and CPT for students in work-authorized status. For longer-term employment-based Green Card paths, Chewy has supported EB-2 and EB-3 filings, which typically involve PERM labor certification through the DOL before an I-140 petition is filed with USCIS.
What qualifications does Chewy expect for Analytics Engineer positions?
Most Analytics Engineer openings at Chewy require proficiency in SQL and Python, experience with data transformation tools like dbt, and familiarity with cloud data platforms such as Snowflake or BigQuery. Retail-specific experience, such as working with supply chain, inventory, or e-commerce data, is a distinguishing factor. A bachelor's degree in computer science, statistics, or a related field is typically required to support the H-1B specialty occupation standard.
How do I apply for Analytics Engineer jobs at Chewy?
You can browse and apply for Analytics Engineer roles at Chewy directly through Migrate Mate, which surfaces open positions that include visa sponsorship. From there, applications route to Chewy's internal recruiting team. The process generally includes a recruiter screen, a technical assessment focused on SQL and data modeling, and multiple rounds of interviews before an offer is extended.
How do I time my application around the H-1B cap filing deadline?
USCIS opens H-1B cap registrations each March for an October 1 start date. If you're targeting Chewy on a student visa or expiring work authorization, aim to have an offer finalized by February so your employer's immigration attorney can prepare the registration. If you're not selected in the lottery, Chewy's support for TN or continued OPT status may provide interim options depending on your nationality and degree.
