The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner will collaborate with Behavioral Health staff to provide assessments, evaluations, consultations, examinations, differential diagnosis, and treatment planning for a specific patient population.
Responsibilities:
- Provide clinical direction to clinical staff, including Social Workers, Case Managers, RNs, LPNs, and Medical Assistants.
- Adhere to all clinical policies and procedures, including infection control principles and confidentiality.
- Assess psycho-social health status through medical history and physical examination.
- Order and interpret laboratory tests.
- Triage, diagnose, and treat illness and behavioral health conditions within the specialty area of practice.
- Function as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Prescribe medication, provide preventive health maintenance, and education.
- Teach and counsel patients, families, and groups.
- Participate in quality improvement activities.
- Comply with regulatory guidelines and collaborating physician requirements.
- Direct, instruct, and evaluate nurse practitioner students.
- Attend meetings and perform other relevant duties as assigned.
