Summary
Presbyterian Healthcare Services seeks a strategic, resilience focused Executive Director of Infrastructure Operations to oversee the performance, reliability, and security of the enterprise technology platforms that power clinical operations, patient care, and mission critical business services. This executive will serve as the enterprise authority for infrastructure reliability, accountable for maintaining 24/7 availability of on premise and cloud based systems that underpin the health system’s clinical and operational functions.
The Executive Director will provide executive leadership of on premise data center operations, enterprise networking, and cloud services governance, ensuring technology platforms remain secure, resilient, compliant, and cost optimized. The leader will also guide modernization of the infrastructure landscape, advancing automation, hybrid cloud alignment, and lifecycle integrity while fostering a culture of operational excellence.
Work Arrangement:
- Remote: Open to applicants in the United States, excluding CA, IL, ND, NY, OH, WA, and WY.
- Hybrid: For individuals within 60 miles of Albuquerque, in-office presence is required Tuesday through Thursday.
Job Description:
Infrastructure Operations
- Lead on premise data center operations, compute, storage, virtualization, and backup environments.
- Ensure HIPAA compliant, secure, and highly available infrastructure supporting clinical and enterprise systems.
- Direct infrastructure lifecycle planning, modernization strategies, and technology refresh roadmaps.
- Advance automation, orchestration, monitoring, and operational efficiency across all infrastructure layers.
- Oversee disaster recovery and business continuity across managed environments.
- Govern vendor relationships for hardware, colocation services, and operational platforms.
Enterprise Networking
- Ensure secure, resilient connectivity across all hospitals, clinics, and administrative locations.
- Oversee network segmentation, security controls, and protection of clinical systems.
- Provide leadership for telecommunications services, carrier relationships, and network performance standards.
- Develop and modernize enterprise network architecture to support operational growth and digital transformation.
Cloud Oversight
- Serve as executive owner of the organization’s AWS managed services environment.
- Govern cloud performance, SLAs, cost management, and vendor accountability.
- Ensure cloud operations meet uptime requirements for major clinical systems such as Epic, imaging, and diagnostics.
- Align cloud and on prem environments within a cohesive hybrid infrastructure strategy.
- Oversee compliance, risk posture, and operational rigor for cloud based platforms.
Vendor & Managed Services Governance
- Provide executive oversight of key infrastructure vendors across data center, networking, and cloud operations.
- Hold managed service partners fully accountable for operational outcomes, cost discipline, and service quality.
- Drive transparency, performance dashboards, and structured vendor governance routines.
Leadership
- Develop high-performing technical teams.
- Support growth initiatives (new sites, affiliates, Epic Community Connect expansion).
- Prepare infrastructure for audits and regulatory reviews.
- Foster a culture of operational excellence and accountability.
- Partner across clinical, operational, and technology domains.
Qualifications
- BS in technical discipline, preferably Computer Engineering or Computer Science.
- 15+ years of infrastructure leadership experience.
- Experience in 24/7 mission-critical environments.
- Enterprise networking and hybrid cloud experience.
- Managed services vendor oversight experience.
- Healthcare experience preferred.
