Verify your clinical licensure transfers to New Mexico
New Mexico requires state licensure for all practicing Therapists. Confirm your credentials meet the New Mexico Regulation and Licensing Department standards before applying, since Presbyterian will expect an active or pending in-state license before initiating any sponsorship filing.
Target Presbyterian's outpatient behavioral health openings
Presbyterian operates dedicated behavioral health clinics alongside its hospital system. Outpatient Therapist roles in these settings have historically drawn consistent international hiring, making them a more direct path to sponsorship than general acute care postings.
Use Migrate Mate to filter Presbyterian's open Therapist roles
Sponsorship-eligible positions aren't always labeled clearly on general job boards. Migrate Mate lets you filter Presbyterian Healthcare Services Therapist roles by visa type so you're only spending time on positions that match your authorization needs.
Understand how TN classification applies to your discipline
If you're a Canadian or Mexican citizen, TN status can cover certain Therapist classifications without requiring an H-1B petition. Confirm with Presbyterian's HR team whether your specific therapy discipline and degree field satisfy TN's defined occupation list before relying on this pathway.
Ask about PERM timing during the offer stage
Presbyterian sponsors EB-2 and EB-3 Green Cards, but PERM labor certification adds months to the timeline. Raise the question of permanent residency sponsorship during offer negotiation, not after onboarding, so both sides align on when the DOL filing process will begin.
Prepare your credential evaluation before the interview
If your therapy degree is from outside the United States, have a NACES-member organization evaluate it before your first interview. Presbyterian's credentialing team will require this documentation, and having it ready signals you're prepared to move quickly through the hiring process.

Find Therapist at Presbyterian Healthcare Services JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Presbyterian Healthcare Services sponsor H-1B visas for Therapists?
Yes, Presbyterian Healthcare Services sponsors H-1B visas for Therapist roles. Therapy positions that require a specialized degree, such as a Master's in Clinical Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, or a related field, generally qualify as specialty occupations under USCIS standards. Presbyterian's HR and legal teams handle the H-1B petition process, but you'll need an active or pending New Mexico clinical license before sponsorship can proceed.
Which visa types are commonly used for Therapist roles at Presbyterian Healthcare Services?
Presbyterian Healthcare Services sponsors H-1B, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, TN, and EB-2 and EB-3 immigrant visas for Therapist positions. H-1B is the most common nonimmigrant route for degreed clinicians. TN is available to Canadian and Mexican citizens in qualifying therapy disciplines. F-1 OPT works well for recent U.S. graduate program completers who need time before H-1B sponsorship begins.
What qualifications and experience does Presbyterian Healthcare Services expect for Therapist roles?
Most Therapist openings at Presbyterian require a Master's degree in a clinical discipline such as counseling, social work, marriage and family therapy, or psychology, along with a New Mexico state license or active licensure application. Positions in Presbyterian's behavioral health and outpatient clinics often prefer candidates with experience in community mental health, integrated care, or bilingual Spanish-English clinical settings, reflecting the demographics of their patient population.
How do I apply for Therapist jobs at Presbyterian Healthcare Services?
Browse open Therapist roles at Presbyterian Healthcare Services through Migrate Mate, which filters listings by visa sponsorship type so you can identify positions aligned with your work authorization. Once you've identified a role, apply through Presbyterian's careers portal and note your sponsorship needs in your application. Reaching out to their behavioral health recruiting team directly after applying can help move your application forward faster.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for a Therapist position at Presbyterian Healthcare Services?
Timeline depends on the visa type. H-1B standard processing through USCIS takes three to six months, with premium processing available to reduce that to 15 business days. F-1 OPT authorization through your Designated School Official typically takes 90 days. EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card sponsorship involving PERM labor certification adds 12 to 24 months or more before USCIS adjudication begins, so start those conversations early in the offer process.
