Tips for Finding Therapist Jobs at BayCare Health System
Verify your licensure transfers to Florida
Florida requires state licensure for practicing therapists, and your existing credential may not transfer automatically. Confirm your license type is eligible for endorsement through the Florida Department of Health before applying to any BayCare role.
Target outpatient and rehab postings first
BayCare's outpatient therapy and rehabilitation centers tend to post the most consistent openings for licensed therapists. These settings also have more predictable scheduling, which can make it easier to coordinate visa filing timelines with your employer contact.
Ask HR directly about their preferred visa pathway
BayCare sponsors multiple visa types for healthcare roles, including H-1B and TN. At the offer stage, ask their HR team which pathway they have most experience processing for therapists, since their immigration counsel will have preferences that affect your timeline.
Prepare a credential evaluation before the interview
If your degree is from outside the United States, have it evaluated by a NACES-approved organization before your first interview. BayCare's clinical hiring managers will want confirmation your training meets the U.S. equivalency standard for your specific therapy discipline.
Use Migrate Mate to surface active BayCare openings
BayCare therapist roles with confirmed sponsorship can be filtered directly on Migrate Mate, so you're not manually sorting through postings that won't support your visa status. Set up alerts so you catch new listings in the Tampa Bay area as they go live.
Understand PERM timing if you want a Green Card path
If permanent residency is your goal, ask during negotiations whether BayCare is willing to initiate PERM labor certification alongside your H-1B. The PERM process requires DOL-supervised recruitment and typically takes one to two years before an I-140 can be filed.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does BayCare Health System sponsor H-1B visas for Therapists?
Yes, BayCare Health System sponsors H-1B visas for qualifying Therapist roles. Therapist positions typically meet the specialty occupation standard because they require at minimum a master's degree in a specific clinical discipline. You'll need an active Florida state license and a signed offer letter before BayCare can file the H-1B petition with USCIS.
How do I apply for Therapist jobs at BayCare Health System?
You can search BayCare's career portal directly or browse verified sponsoring roles on Migrate Mate, which filters postings by visa type so you only see positions open to candidates who need work authorization. When applying, make sure your resume reflects your licensure status and any clinical specializations, since BayCare's therapy teams hire across behavioral health, physical therapy, and occupational therapy.
Which visa types does BayCare Health System use for Therapist roles?
BayCare has experience sponsoring H-1B, TN visa, J-1 visa, and F-1 OPT and CPT, as well as employment-based Green Card pathways including EB-2 and EB-3, for healthcare professionals. TN visa is available to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying therapy disciplines. The right pathway depends on your citizenship, your degree, and whether you're transitioning from another visa status.
What qualifications does BayCare look for in sponsored Therapist candidates?
BayCare requires an active Florida state license for any clinical therapy role. Most positions also expect a master's degree or higher in the relevant discipline, such as social work, occupational therapy, physical therapy, or counseling. Clinical licensure hours, specialty certifications like CBT or trauma-focused therapy training, and prior experience in hospital or outpatient settings all strengthen your candidacy.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for a BayCare Therapist role?
Timeline depends on the visa type. H-1B standard processing through USCIS runs three to six months, though premium processing can reduce that to 15 business days. TN status for Canadians can be obtained at a port of entry with a valid offer letter. J-1 requires a sponsor organization separate from BayCare. Build in extra time if your Florida license endorsement is still in progress when you receive an offer.
