Obtain a CNA or Relevant State Certification First
Florida requires Healthcare Assistants to hold a valid Certified Nursing Assistant credential or equivalent. Securing this before applying positions you as work-ready and removes a common hiring barrier that delays sponsorship conversations at BayCare.
Target BayCare's High-Volume Hiring Facilities
BayCare operates across dozens of hospitals and outpatient centers in Hillsborough, Pinellas, and Pasco counties. Applications to larger facilities like St. Joseph's or Morton Plant tend to reach staffing teams with dedicated HR resources experienced in visa sponsorship paperwork.
Search Healthcare Assistant Openings Through Migrate Mate
BayCare posts Healthcare Assistant roles across multiple locations on an ongoing basis. Use Migrate Mate to filter open positions specifically by visa sponsorship support so you're only applying where sponsorship is confirmed, not assumed.
Clarify Sponsorship Scope During the Offer Stage
BayCare sponsors multiple visa types including H-1B and TN. Before signing an offer, confirm in writing whether sponsorship covers just the initial petition or also extensions and future Green Card filings through EB-2 or EB-3 PERM.
Align Your OPT or CPT Timeline With BayCare's Onboarding Cycle
BayCare hires on F-1 OPT and CPT for Healthcare Assistant roles tied to clinical healthcare programs. Confirm your OPT start date aligns with their typical 4 to 8 week onboarding lead time so there's no gap in work authorization before your first shift.
Prepare a USCIS-Ready Employment Verification Packet Early
Healthcare Assistant H-1B petitions require DOL Labor Condition Application approval before USCIS filing. Gather your academic transcripts, credential evaluations, and clinical hours documentation in advance so BayCare's HR team can initiate the LCA without delays.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does BayCare Health System sponsor H-1B visas for Healthcare Assistants?
Yes, BayCare Health System does sponsor H-1B visas for Healthcare Assistant roles. Because Healthcare Assistant is a specialty occupation, your employer must first file a Labor Condition Application with the DOL before USCIS can process the H-1B petition. BayCare's HR team handles this process, but you should confirm sponsorship availability at the specific facility and location you're applying to, as not every site follows the same process.
How do I apply for Healthcare Assistant jobs at BayCare Health System?
You can apply directly through BayCare's careers portal at baycare.org. Filter by job title and location to find Healthcare Assistant openings across their network. If you need to confirm which postings include visa sponsorship, Migrate Mate lets you browse BayCare's open roles filtered by sponsorship type so you can apply with confidence and avoid roles where sponsorship isn't available.
Which visa types does BayCare Health System commonly use for Healthcare Assistant roles?
BayCare sponsors Healthcare Assistants on H-1B, TN visa, J-1 visa, and F-1 OPT and CPT visas, as well as immigrant visa categories including EB-2 and EB-3. TN visa is available for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying healthcare occupations. J-1 visa is typically used for exchange-based clinical placements. EB-3 is the most common Green Card pathway for healthcare support workers and requires a PERM labor certification filed by BayCare through the DOL.
What qualifications does BayCare Health System expect for Healthcare Assistant candidates?
BayCare typically requires a high school diploma or GED plus a valid Florida Certified Nursing Assistant certification for Healthcare Assistant roles. Prior experience in a clinical or long-term care setting strengthens your application, particularly for hospital-based positions. Basic Life Support certification is usually required before your start date. Roles in specialized units may also expect familiarity with electronic health records systems like Epic, which BayCare uses across its network.
How do I time my visa sponsorship process when starting a Healthcare Assistant role at BayCare?
If you're on F-1 OPT, your work authorization must be active before your start date. The H-1B cap-subject filing window opens each April for an October 1 start, so coordinate your offer timeline accordingly. TN status can be obtained at the port of entry with employer documentation, offering a faster path for eligible nationals. For EB-3 Green Card sponsorship, the PERM process typically takes 12 to 24 months from initiation, so raise this early with BayCare's HR team.
