Obtain a U.S.-recognized clinical credential first
CHRISTUS Health's Healthcare Assistant roles often require a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Patient Care Technician credential. Securing state licensure before applying removes a common bottleneck that delays offer letters and sponsorship conversations.
Target roles in CHRISTUS's largest service regions
CHRISTUS Health operates heavily across Texas, Louisiana, and New Mexico. Applying to facilities in these states increases your odds of reaching hiring managers with active headcount and familiarity with sponsoring international candidates for patient-facing support roles.
Use Migrate Mate to filter open Healthcare Assistant positions
Not every open role at CHRISTUS Health will come with sponsorship attached. Use Migrate Mate to surface Healthcare Assistant listings specifically flagged for visa sponsorship, so you spend your time on applications that can actually move forward.
Confirm sponsorship scope before your first interview
CHRISTUS Health sponsors both H-1B and employment-based Green Cards, but individual facilities control hiring decisions. Ask the recruiter directly whether the specific role and location supports immigration sponsorship, not just the health system broadly.
Prepare your I-94 and current status documentation early
If you're already in the U.S. on F-1 OPT or another nonimmigrant status, have your I-94 record, EAD, and status expiration dates ready. CHRISTUS Health's HR teams will need these to assess whether a cap-subject H-1B filing or a cap-exempt pathway applies to your situation.
Understand the PERM timeline for EB-2 and EB-3 sponsorship
Employment-based Green Card sponsorship for Healthcare Assistants typically involves PERM labor certification through the DOL before USCIS can adjudicate the immigrant petition. This process can take one to two years before you even file Form I-140, so factor that into your planning.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does CHRISTUS Health sponsor H-1B visas for Healthcare Assistants?
Yes, CHRISTUS Health sponsors H-1B visas for Healthcare Assistant roles, though sponsorship decisions are made at the facility level rather than system-wide. Your best approach is to confirm sponsorship availability with the specific recruiting team for the location you're applying to, since not every open position will come with sponsorship attached.
Which visa types does CHRISTUS Health commonly use for Healthcare Assistants?
CHRISTUS Health primarily uses H-1B sponsorship for nonimmigrant work authorization and supports EB-2 and EB-3 employment-based Green Card pathways for longer-term immigration goals. Healthcare Assistants in direct patient care roles typically qualify under EB-3, which covers skilled and semi-skilled workers, and requires PERM labor certification through the DOL before the immigrant petition is filed with USCIS.
What qualifications does CHRISTUS Health expect for Healthcare Assistant roles?
Most Healthcare Assistant positions at CHRISTUS Health require a high school diploma or equivalent, a current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Patient Care Technician credential, and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Some hospital-based roles expect prior clinical experience. State licensure requirements vary by location, so verify the specific credential requirements for the state where the facility operates before applying.
How do I apply for Healthcare Assistant jobs at CHRISTUS Health?
You can browse open Healthcare Assistant positions with visa sponsorship at CHRISTUS Health through Migrate Mate, which filters roles specifically available to candidates who need sponsorship. When applying directly through CHRISTUS Health's careers portal, indicate your work authorization status clearly and follow up with the recruiter to confirm sponsorship availability for that specific role and location early in the process.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for Healthcare Assistants at CHRISTUS Health?
For H-1B sponsorship, CHRISTUS Health must file a Labor Condition Application with the DOL before submitting Form I-129 to USCIS. Standard USCIS processing takes three to six months, though premium processing is available for a faster decision. For employment-based Green Card sponsorship, the PERM labor certification stage alone can take one to two years, so starting the conversation with your employer early matters significantly.
