Verify Your Licensure Transfers Across States
CHRISTUS Health operates in Texas, Louisiana, New Mexico, and several other states. Confirm your therapy license is valid or transferable in the specific state where the role is posted before applying, since licensure gaps can stall an H-1B petition.
Target Roles Tied to Underserved Facilities
CHRISTUS Health operates facilities in rural and underserved communities, which can qualify for HPSA designations. Positions at these sites may have stronger internal pressure to fill through sponsorship when domestic candidates are scarce.
Align Your Clinical Specialty to Posted Openings
CHRISTUS Health frequently posts behavioral health and rehabilitation therapy openings separately. Matching your specialty credentials, such as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker credential or a Physical Therapist license, directly to the listed requirements strengthens your specialty occupation argument for H-1B purposes.
Confirm PERM Viability During Offer Negotiations
CHRISTUS Health sponsors both EB-2 and EB-3 Green Cards, which require a PERM labor certification through DOL. Ask HR early whether the specific role has been approved for permanent sponsorship, since not every open position is automatically eligible.
Use Migrate Mate to Filter Active Therapy Openings
Tracking which CHRISTUS Health therapy postings are actively open and sponsorship-eligible takes time. Use Migrate Mate to filter verified sponsoring employer listings and identify current openings before applying through the company's own careers portal.
Request Premium Processing Before Your Status Expires
If you're transitioning from OPT or a grace period, ask CHRISTUS Health's HR team whether they'll authorize USCIS premium processing on your I-129. The standard H-1B processing timeline can exceed your available authorized stay if you wait.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does CHRISTUS Health sponsor H-1B visas for Therapists?
Yes, CHRISTUS Health sponsors H-1B visas for Therapist roles. The organization has a consistent track record of filing petitions for clinical positions, including behavioral health, physical therapy, and occupational therapy. Sponsorship availability can vary by facility and role type, so confirming directly with the hiring team during the interview process is the most reliable approach.
How do I apply for Therapist jobs at CHRISTUS Health?
Applications go through CHRISTUS Health's official careers portal. Search by therapy specialty and state to narrow results. Before applying, verify the role is still active and that the job description aligns with your licensure. You can also browse verified sponsoring Therapist openings at CHRISTUS Health through Migrate Mate, which filters specifically for visa-sponsoring employers.
Which visa types does CHRISTUS Health commonly use for Therapist roles?
CHRISTUS Health uses H-1B visas for temporary work authorization and sponsors EB-2 and EB-3 immigrant visas for permanent residency. Therapist roles typically qualify as specialty occupations under H-1B rules because they require a specific bachelor's degree or higher in a clinical discipline. The EB-3 pathway is common for licensed therapists who meet the professional or skilled worker criteria under USCIS classifications.
What qualifications does CHRISTUS Health expect for sponsored Therapist positions?
Expectations depend on the therapy specialty, but most roles require a relevant clinical degree, active state licensure in the state of employment, and eligibility for credentialing within the health system. For behavioral health roles, a master's degree with an LPC, LCSW, or equivalent credential is standard. Physical and occupational therapy positions typically require a DPT or MOT and current state licensure. CHRISTUS Health may also require CPR certification and prior clinical placement or post-graduate experience.
How long does the H-1B sponsorship process typically take for a Therapist at CHRISTUS Health?
Standard H-1B processing through USCIS runs roughly three to five months after the employer files the petition. If your status is expiring soon, ask HR about premium processing, which reduces USCIS adjudication to roughly 15 business days. For PERM-based Green Card sponsorship, the DOL labor certification process alone can add six to eighteen months before an I-140 immigrant petition is filed.
