Align your credentials with CPA expectations
CHRISTUS Health accounting roles often require or prefer CPA licensure. Before applying, confirm your foreign accounting credentials have been evaluated by a NACES-approved body so your application reflects U.S.-equivalent qualifications from the first screening.
Target roles in revenue cycle and compliance
CHRISTUS Health's accounting openings cluster heavily around healthcare revenue cycle, cost reporting, and regulatory compliance. Framing your resume around hospital billing cycles or CMS cost report experience puts you in front of the hiring managers most likely to initiate sponsorship.
Find open positions through Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to filter CHRISTUS Health's accounting openings by visa sponsorship type. This saves time by surfacing only the roles where the company has an active sponsorship history, so you're not applying blindly across a large health system.
Ask HR about PERM timing during interviews
If you're targeting a Green Card through EB-2 or EB-3, ask the recruiter where CHRISTUS Health typically initiates PERM labor certification in the employment timeline. At large nonprofits, this process often begins after one to two years of employment, and knowing this upfront shapes your planning.
Confirm your role qualifies as a specialty occupation
USCIS requires H-1B positions to qualify as specialty occupations, meaning a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific field is normally required. For accounting roles, make sure your offer letter specifies duties requiring professional accounting knowledge, not general financial support tasks.
Time your application around the H-1B cap cycle
CHRISTUS Health files cap-subject H-1B petitions for roles starting October 1, the beginning of the federal fiscal year. USCIS registration opens in March, so connect with your hiring contact by January to ensure your petition is included in that cycle.

Find Accountant at CHRISTUS Health JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does CHRISTUS Health sponsor H-1B visas for Accountants?
Yes, CHRISTUS Health sponsors H-1B visas for qualifying Accountant roles. As a large nonprofit health system with finance operations spanning multiple states, CHRISTUS has an established process for H-1B filings. Your role must qualify as a specialty occupation under USCIS standards, which accounting positions with a required bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field typically meet.
Which visa types does CHRISTUS Health commonly use for Accountant roles?
CHRISTUS Health sponsors both H-1B nonimmigrant visas and employment-based immigrant visas, primarily EB-2 and EB-3, for Accountant positions. H-1B is the most common starting point for candidates already in the U.S. on OPT or a prior visa. EB-2 and EB-3 sponsorship through PERM labor certification is typically offered to longer-tenured employees pursuing permanent residence.
How do I apply for Accountant jobs at CHRISTUS Health?
Applications go through CHRISTUS Health's careers portal, where you can filter by job function and location. Migrate Mate also lists CHRISTUS Health's accounting openings filtered by sponsorship type, which helps you identify which specific roles have a visa sponsorship history before you apply. Tailoring your resume to highlight healthcare finance experience, such as cost reporting or revenue cycle accounting, strengthens your application significantly.
What qualifications does CHRISTUS Health expect for Accountant positions?
Most CHRISTUS Health Accountant postings require a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a closely related field. CPA licensure or active candidacy is preferred for senior roles. Practical experience with healthcare-specific accounting, including Medicare and Medicaid cost reporting, general ledger reconciliation in a hospital setting, or knowledge of nonprofit fund accounting, will differentiate your application in a competitive pool.
How do I plan around the visa filing timeline when targeting CHRISTUS Health?
If you need H-1B sponsorship, the USCIS registration window opens each March for an October 1 start date. Reaching out to CHRISTUS Health recruiters by late January gives HR enough time to prepare your petition before registration closes. If you're on OPT, confirm your STEM extension eligibility early, since it gives you up to three years of work authorization while your H-1B petition moves through the process.
