Verify Your Licensure Transfers to Michigan
Michigan requires Therapists to hold a state-issued license before starting work. Confirm your credential is eligible for reciprocity or endorsement early, since licensing delays can push back your start date and complicate petition timelines with USCIS.
Target Outpatient and Rehab Openings Specifically
MyMichigan Health posts Therapist roles across both inpatient and outpatient settings. Outpatient behavioral health and rehabilitation positions tend to offer more scheduling predictability, which matters when coordinating OPT extension deadlines or H-1B cap filing windows.
Search Open Therapist Roles on Migrate Mate
MyMichigan Health lists Therapist openings regularly. Use Migrate Mate to filter specifically for their active postings and confirm which roles are tagged for visa sponsorship before you invest time preparing a full application.
Ask HR About Their LCA Filing Process
Before accepting an offer, ask MyMichigan Health's HR team whether they file the Labor Condition Application internally or through outside counsel. This tells you how experienced their process is and gives you a realistic sense of your petition timeline.
Align Your OPT Expiration with Their Hiring Cycle
Healthcare systems like MyMichigan Health often hire on a rolling basis rather than in cohorts. If your OPT expires within six months, calculate whether you have enough runway to complete onboarding and credentialing before your employment authorization lapses.
Get Your Clinical Documents Translated and Evaluated Early
If your clinical training or degree came from outside the United States, have your transcripts evaluated by a NACES-approved credential evaluator before applying. MyMichigan Health's credentialing team will need this documentation, and delays can stall both hiring and visa filing.

Does MyMichigan Health sponsor H-1B visas for Therapists?
Yes, MyMichigan Health sponsors H-1B visas for Therapist roles. Healthcare employers in Michigan's regional health systems routinely file H-1B petitions for licensed clinical staff. Because Therapist positions qualify as specialty occupations under USCIS guidelines, H-1B is the most common long-term sponsorship path for international candidates at organizations like MyMichigan Health.
Which visa types does MyMichigan Health commonly sponsor for Therapist roles?
MyMichigan Health supports H-1B, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, and TN visas for Therapist positions. TN is available to Canadian and Mexican nationals whose therapy specialty appears on the USMCA-eligible occupation list. F-1 OPT and CPT are common entry points for recent graduates completing supervised clinical hours before transitioning to H-1B sponsorship.
What qualifications does MyMichigan Health expect for Therapist positions?
MyMichigan Health typically requires a master's degree or higher in a relevant clinical field, an active Michigan state license, and in some roles, prior supervised clinical hours in a healthcare setting. For international candidates, foreign degree credentials must be evaluated by a recognized credentialing organization before the hiring and visa sponsorship process can proceed.
How do I apply for Therapist jobs at MyMichigan Health?
Browse active Therapist openings at MyMichigan Health on Migrate Mate, where listings are filtered to show roles with visa sponsorship. Apply directly through the employer's careers portal. Once you receive an offer, MyMichigan Health's HR team will coordinate the visa filing process, including any Labor Condition Application with the DOL for H-1B petitions.
How do I plan my timeline for H-1B sponsorship at MyMichigan Health?
H-1B cap-subject petitions can only be filed once per year, with USCIS opening registration in March for an October 1 start date. If you're on OPT, confirm it covers the gap between your offer date and October 1. If you're not selected in the lottery, ask MyMichigan Health whether a cap-exempt filing through an affiliated nonprofit or research entity is an option.
