Verify Your NCLEX and Licensure Early
Michigan requires an active RN license before MyMichigan Health can extend an offer. Start your NCLEX-RN registration and Michigan Board of Nursing application well in advance, as credential evaluation through a NACES-approved body can add weeks to your timeline.
Target High-Demand Units in Your Applications
MyMichigan Health consistently posts openings across med-surg, ICU, and emergency departments. Aligning your application to these high-volume units improves your chances of reaching a hiring manager who has both budget and urgency to move forward on sponsorship.
Clarify Sponsorship Intentions Before Accepting an Offer
Some health systems sponsor selectively by unit or facility. Before signing an offer, confirm in writing which visa type MyMichigan Health will file for your specific role and location, so there are no surprises after onboarding paperwork begins.
Use Migrate Mate to Find Open RN Roles
Searching broadly for nursing jobs wastes time on employers who won't sponsor. Use Migrate Mate to filter specifically for MyMichigan Health Registered Nurse openings with confirmed visa sponsorship, so every application you submit is to a role where sponsorship is already on the table.
Plan Around H-1B Cap Season If Needed
If your role requires H-1B sponsorship, USCIS opens registration each March for an October 1 start. Work backward from that date to ensure your offer letter, I-129 filing, and credential documents are ready before your employer's legal team submits the petition.

Does MyMichigan Health sponsor H-1B visas for Registered Nurses?
Yes, MyMichigan Health sponsors H-1B visas for Registered Nurse roles. RN positions qualify as specialty occupations under USCIS guidelines when a Bachelor of Science in Nursing is required. Sponsorship is handled through the employer, so once you receive an offer, MyMichigan Health's HR or legal team manages the petition process with USCIS on your behalf.
Which visa types does MyMichigan Health commonly use for Registered Nurse roles?
MyMichigan Health sponsors Registered Nurses through H-1B, TN, F-1 OPT, and F-1 CPT visa pathways. H-1B is the most common route for long-term employment. TN is available to Canadian and Mexican nurses. F-1 OPT and CPT apply to nursing graduates in the U.S. on student visas completing practical training components before transitioning to full employment.
What qualifications does MyMichigan Health expect for Registered Nurse applicants?
MyMichigan Health expects a current, active Michigan RN license, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing for most clinical positions, and relevant unit experience that matches the posted role. International applicants should also have their foreign nursing credentials evaluated by a NACES-approved organization and pass the NCLEX-RN before an offer can be finalized.
How do I apply for Registered Nurse jobs at MyMichigan Health?
You can browse and apply for Registered Nurse jobs at MyMichigan Health directly through Migrate Mate, which filters for roles with confirmed visa sponsorship so you're not wasting time on positions that won't support your immigration status. Applications typically require a current resume, your Michigan RN license number, and unit-specific experience relevant to the posted opening.
How long does the visa sponsorship process typically take for a Registered Nurse at MyMichigan Health?
Timeline depends on your visa type. F-1 OPT authorization takes up to 90 days to process through USCIS, so apply early. TN status for Canadian nurses can be obtained at the border on the same day as your start. H-1B petitions follow an annual cap cycle, with an October 1 start date, meaning you may wait six months or more between your offer and your legal work start date.
