Align your credentials to Michigan licensure early
Many Technician roles at MyMichigan Health require state licensure or national certification before an offer is extended. Confirm your credential transfers to Michigan and begin any endorsement paperwork before you start applying, not after.
Target roles matching your specific technical modality
MyMichigan Health hires across imaging, lab, surgical, and respiratory functions. Applying to the specific Technician category that matches your training improves your sponsorship eligibility, since H-1B specialty occupation status depends on your degree directly supporting the role.
Browse open Technician roles on Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to filter Technician openings at MyMichigan Health by visa type. This saves you time by surfacing only roles where sponsorship has been used, so you're not cold-applying to positions with no sponsorship history.
Ask about LCA filing timing before accepting
Before signing an offer, confirm when your employer plans to file the Labor Condition Application with DOL. LCA certification typically takes seven business days but must be complete before USCIS can adjudicate your H-1B petition, and delays push back your start date.
Clarify OPT and CPT eligibility with your DSO first
If you're on F-1 status, MyMichigan Health has sponsored Technician roles under OPT and CPT pathways. Coordinate with your Designated School Official to confirm your authorized employment dates align with your offer letter start date before HR initiates onboarding paperwork.
Use TN status if your role qualifies under USMCA
Canadian and Mexican nationals in certain Technician categories may qualify for TN status, which has no annual cap and no lottery. Verify with USCIS that your specific Technician job title appears on the approved USMCA occupation list before requesting TN sponsorship from HR.

Find Technician at MyMichigan Health JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does MyMichigan Health sponsor H-1B visas for Technicians?
Yes, MyMichigan Health has an active history of sponsoring H-1B visas for Technician roles. Healthcare employers in regional health systems typically file H-1B petitions for clinical technical positions that require a relevant bachelor's degree or higher. Your role must qualify as a specialty occupation under USCIS standards, meaning the position routinely requires a specific degree field, not just any bachelor's degree.
How do I apply for Technician jobs at MyMichigan Health?
Applications go through MyMichigan Health's careers portal, where you can filter by department and role type. For visa-dependent candidates, Migrate Mate lets you browse Technician openings at MyMichigan Health filtered by sponsorship eligibility, so you can identify the right positions before submitting through the official portal. Tailor your application to the specific technical modality the posting lists.
Which visa types does MyMichigan Health use for Technician roles?
MyMichigan Health sponsors Technician positions under H-1B, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, and TN visa categories. H-1B is the most common path for longer-term employment, while OPT and CPT serve F-1 students in eligible programs. TN is an option for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying technical occupations defined under USMCA.
What qualifications does MyMichigan Health expect for sponsored Technician positions?
Most Technician roles require a relevant associate's or bachelor's degree in the specific technical field, such as radiologic technology, clinical laboratory science, or surgical technology. National certification from bodies like ARRT or ASCP is frequently required or preferred. Michigan state licensure may also apply depending on the modality. Your credentials must directly support the role for H-1B specialty occupation eligibility.
How do I plan my timeline if I need visa sponsorship for a Technician role?
If you're pursuing H-1B sponsorship, account for the annual cap lottery, which opens in March for an October 1 start date. OPT authorization can bridge the gap if you're currently on F-1 status. LCA filing with DOL adds roughly seven business days before USCIS filing begins. Starting your job search at least six months ahead of your authorization expiry gives you realistic runway.
